Ah, I really don't think that your question can be truly answered. As I had pointed out in an earlier post, all military/combat branches of the Third Reich had their own scharfschützen. There was no one particular German unit that was known better than any other for it's sharp shooting abilities.

Matthias Hetzenauer had 345 hits confirmed.
Sepp Allerberger from Salzburg had 257 hits confirmed. Also from the 3rd Gebirg Division
Helmut Wirnsberger of Styria had 64 hits confirmed. Also from the 3rd Gebirgs Division.

All the above used K98 and sometimes captured Russian sniper rifles. German weapons were fitted with 4 to the usual 6 powered sights.
Sniping ranges were from 400 metres to 1000 metres.

Erich, thanks. Im also trying for a UPS job too, and if I get that, I might be moving to San Antonio or Houston, or if im lucky enough, I can stay here and keep looking for a federal job.

I dont hats where im at, but I feel so unproductive. A person is luck if they get possible 3 orders done in a day. On monday, I had only two and a partial complete. On Tuesday I had 4 completes and a partial 5th. They said that was excellent but, like I say, I still feel like im unproductive. I dont know, maybe that is the product of not working for so long and or because at my last job, you HAD to sweat to make your money.

No, Wehrmacht was the term for the entire Armed Forces, Heer was the term used for the Army.

Interesting that you mentioned this as I furhter interviewed a good friend serving with 1st infantry division on the Ost front. He always mention either he being a Soldat or that his unit was Wehrmacht, has never used Heer in any term or sentance used. Also every Luftwaffe vet has never said they were part of the Wehrmacht as a whole........ooooooooooooh. marcus I do undersand and agree with your correction though. Thought all would be interested.

Marcus, we need to see your numbers rise, and bring the forum some more good luck.

I too used to think that Wehrmacht was just for the Army and was very surprised to find out that I was wrong on that too.

Erich I agree with you too my friend, I havent heard any German vet refer to being in the Wehrmacht by name cept for the few Army vets I have met.

I think though, that they try to keep every branch of service as separate as possible?

Also, just had some good luck, I heard from Remy a few days ago. In the letter, I now know who was responsible for ticking the Knights Cross vets off. Also as Remy and I are good friends (he even sent me an autographed wallet-sized photo too) :D and also I still have his vote to become an hohorary lifetime RKT member. Now if I can just get Martin Drewes to second that vote and im in..............
