anic:I am trembling at the might of the Venezuelan Military. Look at them! They have 80 MBT's designed in the sixties, and almost 25 multi-role strike aircraft. Oh look. The entire stregth of the Venezuelan Air Force all lined up waiting for someone to strafe it.
How many are operational? I thought most broke and we won't sell them any parts. PS. I got the sarcasm.
Russian navy ships to visit Nicaragua - Yahoo! News A Russian navy squadron will visit Nicaragua, the navy said Thursday, a symbolic reward for an old ally as the Kremlin seeks to project its power into Latin America. Nicaragua is the only country that has followed Russia in recognizing the independence of two separatist regions in Georgia after the Russian-Georgian war in August. Nicaragua was a close ally of Moscow in the 1980s under President Daniel Ortega, who returned to power in 2006. Navy spokesman Capt. Igor Dygalo said the destroyer Admiral Chabanenko and two support vessels will arrive Friday at the Nicaraguan port of Bluefields for a four-day visit. The Russian ships held joint exercises with the Venezuelan navy on Dec. 1. The Admiral Chabanenko then sailed through the Panama Canal, long emblematic of U.S. influence in Latin America. It was the first Soviet or Russian military ship to do so since World War II.
No surprises there. Naval ships visit other peoples at all times, right now in Lisbon harbour is a French helicopter carrier and a Dutch frigate, and a couple weeks ago the town was awash with Russian sailors.
