I am playing Panzer General II. I've come to the Axis invasion of Malta. My problem is I have no idea how deploy my ground troops. I start with Italian battle ships. I've even downloaded the manual but it does not explain how to deploy troops and tanks onto the island. Maybe my copy is bugged? Could someone please explain to me how to get my troops and tanks onto the island? Thank you!
The troops are put on ships around the island. The ships can be moved to the area you wish and troops can be then put on land. So you cannot put troops on the land to begin with.
Thanks for the reply. Could you explain in detail how this is done? I have tried everything (that I can think of), and it's just frustrating the heck out of me. Any pointers would be much appreciated.
There are areas in the sea area where you can deploy your troops just like in the ground area in other missions. You can check these from the strategic map for instance. Once you drop your troops in this deploy area they take the form of a boat. This is what you can move, and next to ground you can move them mobile again during the next turn. You can of course play this part through by not dploying troops and lose the battle, and continue to the next battle, if your version does not work for some reason. In several battles beforehand checking the deploy areas from the strategic map helps to find a possible route to surprise the enemy by a smaller force or putting your tanks there for the iron fist.
Those areas are highlighted on the Right side of the island. You choose your units and deploy like normal into the highlight area as Kai has mentioned and they show up as ships. If you have fallshirmjagers, they will deploy as transport aircraft.
If your doing the campaign your not a good General to get posted there. I wish you all the luck as you will need it as you take on Russia. http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.732
I never really liked PGII, as much as the original Panzer General. It does look better, but the original just seemed much more playable to me, and in general you commanded more units on the battlefield. Despite the lack of realism, both are quite good time wasters.
Not even over the ocean? You can check from the strategic map where you can deploy your troops as the colour there is deeper. After the first round you deploy your orginal troops you have to win a "flag" in order to put new troops on the island.
I recently downloaded Panzer General II from gog.com. In the scenario editor I constructed a scenario with 2 sides, giving each side a victory hex, a supply hex and a few ownership hexes each. When I loaded it up and started to play one of the sides, a weird thing happened. As soon as one of my units entered an ownership hex of the opposing side, the game abruptly ended giving me a brilliant victory. Is this a bug in the editor that caused this? It sure ruined my enjoyment of the editor and my desire to play what-if scenarios of my own construction! Please someone tell me there is a fix for this. Waiting in anticipation....
That sounds about right. The scenario you created was likely too easy to achieve the victory hex. I play both the origional version and the downloadable version and sometimes you have to ignore the victory hexes for a while if you want to have fun destroying stuff. Recreate your scenario and make the victory hexes harder to get and/or increase your opponents forces. When creating scenarios be sure to consider if you want your opponent to be Defensive or Offensive. It can make a big difference in defeating your opponent. Defensive armies are the hardest to route from positions. Hope this helps J_S
If the editor requires the kind of considerations you've outlined, it's not up to snuff. It probably needs the attention of a programmer and who knows when that'll happen...but we can always hope. Thanks for your thoughts J_S. PanzerQ
Not to hijack the thread but Johnny I was trying to get a response from you here (For some reason it won't let me send you a private message on this board) Thanks! http://www.ww2f.com/information-requests/48710-wwii-weather.html#post574871
I think your privacy defaults are restricting PM's. I think you have to change your settings. I have the info you are looking for and will post links to a dropbox site where you can download it this week and post it over on the Weather thread. PS - The reason you cannot land in Malta with troops is you must take the port in the middle right side of the map first. Then you can build reinforcements also. Send your navy and landed troops to take the post as objective # 1. I could never get onto the pensula to take the last objective at the north end of the map. Tough scenario. J_S
Hi Johnny, Apparently my account is locked down in many ways - I think it must be the default setting for new members - I can't change any settings or even reply to the admin email the welcomed me. If an admin is reading this please look at my account settings. Thanks
New members can not send or recieve pm's until you have made a minimum of five posts. When the 'recruit' title under your name changes to 'member' you should be ok.
