DG & Mr. know it all (you know who you are)

Almost everyone knows this is neither NASA, MIT, or CNN's brain storm.
It's been a "Blue Sky Project" since Arthur C. Clark's book "The Fountains of Paradise" from 1979 originated it, and every ten years someone trots out this "Turkey" again, to try and sell it again. They've (the proponents) have heard NO for thirty years, yet every decade they try to convince everyone again.
(and yes there'll be Agency's & Institutions trying to get their snouts in the Government trough on a forever project) Private funding will require more results than rhetoric, and they know that since they have neither a location nor a feasible plan, that will never happen.
For those unfamiliar with the bid process, most will say or do anything to get a start. Change orders, extras, additions can be added/charged for later.
In rare/or not cases, these folks know they're FOS, but hide it so they can make the Mortgage, U-Bill, Property Tax, Groceries.
This is the all time cash cow ... for life. Even this ditsy article says construction "may" start in thirty years. That's job security!
It is/has been said that construction will start fifty years after people stop laughing. They're still laughing.
Yes I'm trying to protect tax payers from a foolish, risky, slimmest chance of success ... ever, Pipe Dream.
No I'm not against research or space exploration projects, just the ones where the "pundits" of them, and the science/engineering/cost/capabilities of them are "wishy-washy", and will need a permanent bail-out.
The details of this one are ...
    lame
    cheap
    thin
    unproven
    tired
    sad
    pitiful
    unsubstantiated
    fuzzy
    evasive
    dribble
    with disturbed, desperate, toxic underwriting
Oh and Stefan, Cal-poly, the #1 engineering school in America for the second year in a row, denounces MIT's reality perception on the capabilities of the elevator even after the tower is up, and the cable is in place.
Even with two "impossibles" as a given, as proposed it will have a maximum lift of 100 pounds, at 65 mph. That's a five week trip up (38 days).
Thats if the lasers (not invented yet), can hit the solar panels on the cable climbers (not invented yet) on a swaying tower (not possible yet), with no obstructions rain, clouds, pigeons, smog, fog, smoke (perfect weather or it comes to a halt). If the proposed laser hits the frame or cable it can cause irreparable damage.
Use private money and go for it !
