    Hello!

Looking for any and all information on Thomas Reginald Gadsden, my wife's grandfather, who flew for the RAF in the Pathfinder Bomber squadrons during WWII.

We really don't have any more information than that to go on, but we think he was also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross as well at some point.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks!

Pilot Officer Thomas Reginald Gadsden DFC Serial No 183858 RAFVR

DFC award Gazetted on 27/3/1945 Page 1655 whilst he was serving with 7 Squadron RAF.

Not in CWG register so he would appear to have survived the war.

That is all I can help you with I am afraid.

    Regards

    Hello!

    And thanks for that information!

I should have been a bit more specific, in that we know he survived the war, we just don't know too much about what he did during the war.

The story that we have on how he received his DFC is interesting, something about jumping out of a downed plane while holding a wounded member of his flight crew, one parachute, two men!

Where did you find this information, and how could we go about finding out more on his WWII missions and such?

    Again, thanks!

He married my grandmother when my father was about 10 years old, depending on where you live it might make a lot more sense if we arrange a meeting.

Well, the interested parties here are all in the USA!

I'm mostly doing this for my wife, but even more so for my Mother-in-law, Thomas' daughter, Patricia.

(Pat makes it back over to England every couple of years though.)

    Was your grandmother named Phillis?

Did she meet Thomas at a pub called The Bear?

And then later, own a pub called Ye Three Fishes in Turvey?

My father was Phyllis's yongest son Martin. I remember seeing a woman who I did not know at nan and Sonny's when I was about 9years old, I was later told it was Sonny's daughter, so that must have been Patricia. Its terribble to say but I was not that keen on my nan, so I spent many hours talking to Sonny. Although I did not know that Sonny's real name was Thomas until after his death.

I don't know much about the circumstances in which Phyllis and Sonny met, I belive it was in a pub in Northampton. I could possibly do a bit of digging into it as Phyllis's sister is still alive.

Do you have many pictures of Thomas?

I'm looking forward to more of this exchange. Urqh is right; the system does work. Keep us informed.

At this point, your best bet is to correspond directly with Thomas' surviving daughter Pat.

She can be reached at "Patsherrard@yahoo.com".

She's got some pictures of her Dad, to be sure.

It is funny that we started this thread looking for more info on Thomas and in the end will be helping someone else get more info on him!
