Nat -- Welcome! This is a great place to learn and enjoy the camaraderie of other students of WWII. You will find that many members have an interest in Canadian involvment in the War so I am sure there will be a few people who can help you with your inquiry. (You should also consider posting your full query in the Information Request section of the forum. In addition, look for posts by macrusk -- she is a charming lady with a wealth of knowledge on Canadian subjects!) Cheers!
Hello Nat and welcome to the forum. We have plenty of Canadians here and many with the same interests as you. Along with posting in the Information Request section, you could also use the SEARCH function to see if there have been similiar requests concerning your uncle's unit and such. Good luck and happy posting.
Hello Natski, you chose the right forum! Wellington III X3715 code VR-G from 419 Squadron crashed at Argenteuil, 7km from Gennevilliers . Gennevilliers had large aircraft factories (Gnône et Rhone Cie) and electrical power plants that supplied Paris. It was bombed 10 times between 1942 and 1944. The May 30th 1942 was the most accurate bombing.
thank you skipper so glad i found you all ! i just found this on raf history bomber command : 29/30 May 1942 Paris/Gennevilliers 77 aircraft - 31 Wellingtons, 20 Halifaxes, 14 Lancasters, 9 Stirlings, 3 Hampdens - to the Gnome & Rhone factory, 4 Wellingtons and 1 Halifax lost. Later photographic cover showed little or no damage to the factory, A local report says that 38 houses were destroyed and 49 damaged, with 34 French people being killed and 167 injured. Minor Operations: 31 aircraft to Cherbourg, 17 aircraft to Dieppe. 21 aircraft minelaying in the Frisians and off Copenhagen, 3 aircraft on leaflet flights to France, 1 Stirling minelayer lost. including a photo showing the non damage done . the next day was 1047 bomber raid on cologne thanks very much for your help and post still reading a lot to formulate some questions properly so i,m not wasting peoples time ty again nat edit: i belive this was the raid when he and his crew were killed .
Hi my name's Luc, I live in Argenteuil which is close to Gennevilliers in France (a few kilometers from Paris). For three weeks I've been looking for information about the aircraft that crashed in Argenteuil I know where and why it crashed on the 30th of May, 1942. I'd like to be in contact with Natski 282 if it's not too late. I can go to the cemetery where his uncle is buried.
Hi Luc, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, Nat hasn't been around for about a year and a half. You can try sending him a private message, which I believe also goes to his email, which he chose not to supply publicly. Good luck.
Hi LRusso216, Thank you for your message, but I can't send to him a private message. Can you help me?
Luc, I believe you have to have more posts before you can use the PM function. Send a public note to Slipdigit (he's an Administrator) who can open up that function for you. He might even be able to give you a working email address.
I've taken care of it for him, Lou Masterstyle, let me know here if you cannot send PMs now. Once we get PMs working for you, I'll see about finding an email for him.
Thank you very much for your help! I dont speak english very weel but i work hard! I can send PMs to natski, thank you Slipdigit. I hope that it will work.
