Palin falls prey to Canadian pranksters - Yahoo! News U.S. vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin fell prey to a Canadian prankster on Saturday when he called her impersonating French President Nicolas Sarkozy and got her to accept an invitation to hunt baby seals. In an over-the-top French accent, a member of the Quebec comedy duo "The Masked Avengers," famous for tricking celebrities and politicians including Sarkozy himself, asked if Palin would take him on a hunting trip by helicopter, and then in French said they could also go kill baby seals. An apparently oblivious Palin said she thought that would be fun. "We could have a lot of fun together as we're getting work done. We could kill two birds with one stone that way." The prankster also got Palin, Republican John McCain's running mate in Tuesday's U.S. presidential election, to reveal a potential ambition for the top job in Washington. Asked if she would like to eventually become president, the Alaska governor responded, "Well, maybe in eight years." Palin's office quickly admitted they were hoodwinked.
oops..hadnt seen this post , had added the link to the snl thread..not to worry..it was pretty funny but scary too , she was so easily fooled and over eager to lap it all up
I've been voting for 28 years. I've worked on 7 campaigns as a staffer (more often than not, coordinator, not just envelope stuffer). I've been a campaign manager and I've run for office myself. I know a little something about politics. I've never seen a turnout like this. To declare this all over and start naming Obama's cabinet last week (the media did this) is counting chickens before the eggs hatch. The numbers are going to blow the pollsters away. The media is setting up a bad situation if their golden child doesn't pull this off. The last laugh will be on the pranksters if McCain/Palin prevail.
Im middle of the road on this , couldnt much care less which of the two eventually wins. It doesnt divert from the idea that Palin was way too easily fooled with this and ridiculously over eager to make a fool of herself. Have you listened to it ? It wouldnt fool a 5th grader..French President indeed..he even says his wife is so hot in bed and Palin still continues lapping it up ...thats what was so funny , gullible ..you bet
Hi Chocapic, it's been a long time! Did you hear the part whe he said Johnny Halliday was Sarkozy's counselor? BTW Haliday is a 60+ years old Rock Star who loves the USA.
These are two very fine men who have worked damned hard to win. The trouble is, like everywhere else, the final issue isn't the leader, it's his party that matters. But there are a lot of proles who will vote for the man and not his policies. Whilst McCain looks down, there is one issue that isn't talk about. One issue in his favour. The number of votes he will get to avoid having a Negro as the USA President. If he loses, it will be because of his choice of running mate. I can't imagine a more inappropriate choice than that woman Palin. McCain's health has to have a question mark over it. The thought that Palin could be the President of the USA quite staggers me.
..did you think she was taken in by that - she was just being polite... one thing's certain - we haven't seen the last of her (I hope)
Its all over bar the shouting now, so her blooper will not make a dent as America votes in the Communist party. Sorry slip up there, I mean the Democrats.
I'll tell you mate, if there weren't vigilantes like you, I'm afraid the red flag would float over the whole wide world. Anyways, I think that Palin, being a polite person and probably aware that Sarkozy is a world class dork, she couldn't be 100% sure it was a joke and take the risk to tell this person on the phone to go to hell. @ Skip : I'm not sure Johnny's fame ever reached Alaska lol
chortle . . . gushing " oh we love you , john and i love you " . . . thats a fib , everybody and thier cat dislikes the french
my opinion she has a strong chance to run against he witch of endor in 2012. Sarah would kick her A**
America really does deserve better than those put forward for office. You hear them all for change , they dont tell you what change , its not explained..but its presumed to be good.Dont count on it.
Or was that Dumocrats(sp)? The polls don't mean jack. They are usually wrong and are almost always taken in Universities and Cities, notoriously Liberal. Haven't seen propaganda this thick since Goebbels. Hope and Change, or the New Steal as I like to call it. More Like, I Hope for your change and the rest of what's in your wallet. Hopefully 51% of Americans aren't that stupid and hope for a new Amerika. This quote comes to mind and inspires trust: "And here's the point I want to make. Mark my words.Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. Hmmm and why is that Joe because Obama is a weak and inexperienced leader? The Cuban missile crisis was alot of fun for those in the US....not The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year old senator president of the United States of America. Your opinion, Joe Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he's gonna have to make some really tough - I don't know what the decision's gonna be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's gonna happen. I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate. And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you, not financially to help him, we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right. Joe this comment is truly frightening because unlike Matt Daemon this is something to be really concerned about. I want a guy who knows what he's doing not someone looking for help at 3:00 in the morning and can't find the phone. Because all these decisions, all these decisions, once they're made if they work, You're questioning if they're going to work Joe? then they weren't viewed as a crisis. If they don't work, it's viewed as you didn't make the right decision, a little bit like how we hesitated so long dealing with Bosnia and dealing with Kosovo, and consequently 200,000 people lost their lives that maybe didn't have to lose lives. Joe we still have troops in Bosnia and when are they coming home? Real success story there It's how we made a mistake in Iraq. Seems to me that you are mistaken about Iraq, just as your pal Barak was about the surge We made a mistake in Somalia. Yes and you folks want to make the same mistake in Darfur, Joe So there's gonna be some tough decisions. They may emanate from the Middle East. They may emanate from the sub-continent. They may emanate from Russia's newly-emboldened position because they're floating in a sea of oil." or Joe they may emanate from barak being elected and Israel bombing Iran like they did to Iraq's reactor potentially leading to a full blown Mideast war with Iran, Israel and Syria. or they may emanate from an NBC event because you Democrat folks were concerned about listening to Ali chatting with his pal in Yemen. or they may emanate from Clintonian like cut backs of the US military or they may emanate from a Pashtun backed civil war in Pakistahn destabilizing the country and mobilizing China and India or they may emanate from a nuke fired into the atmosphere sending an EM pulse which knocks out the world market for a few days and sends it on its ear. Yes, Joe, you inspire full confidence in the Democrat Party being in charge of the US, both executive, and legislative. just a tad bit more to be concerned about than a couple of knuckleheads like these guys punking Gov Palin.
Never do see a poor bookie do you ? 3/1 odds should have gave you a clue , theres only 2 runners ...well..only 1 now
hehe the odds were 3:1 because of Obama being ahead in polls and bets anyways, I speculated on a late McCain surge, looks like my oracle was waaaaaaay wrong : it's an overwhelming victory for Obama ! Looks like McCain paid the price of American people getting tired with the Bush's bigot-warmongers-oil/gun sellers-neocon bunch. And there goes my money :'(
i dont think the prank had any effect on the election. People had already made their mind up about Gov Palin, be it for or against!
