Hi, I'm a retired Canadian Forces Tank/Recce Commander. Spent some time in Europe doing construction and driving trucks before coming back to Canada. My parents were both in the Air Force during WWII, my Dad was a bombadier in the RCAF and my Mother was a radar plotter for the RAF (don't remember what they were called). My Uncles all served in their respective Armys. I have one son serving in the Canadian Navy and a daughter studying at RMC to become a Naval Officer. I just happened to find this site while web surfing one day and joined.
Welcome aboard. If you participate you'll not only have fun but it will be quite a learning experience both for you and us!! Knew and met quite a few RCAF in England in 1944. 4.0 guys. Forget this almost I love the Kingston,Canada area especially Fort Henry. My grandkids had a blast with the reenactors there. AlsoI believe there is a Canadian Army Post nearby as I saw a lot of uniforms in the area!! Sgtleo
Howdy, Zip, Good to have you here. We have a good many members who are Canucks (including the owner) so you'll be in good company. Welcome.
Welcome on board ! I'm into aviation and I'd love to hear your dad's story about his time in the RCAF.
Welcome and thanks for joining! This is a great place and you will undoubtedly enjoy your time here! Cheers!
Welcome, CDNZipperhead! I hope you will enjoy the Forum. There are a few of us children of Veterans here, several whose parent(s) were Canadian. I assume that with the RCAF and RAF, that like me, your parents were Canadian and British. Sgt Leo, definitely a reason for Canadian Forces uniforms in the Kingston area - the Royal Military College of Canada is there Royal Military College
Greetings from Oz, this will prove to be a wealth of information to you there are some of the finest minds and extensive archives on the subject of WWII to introduce youself to. Howdy and welcome to the forum. Plenty of Canadian cousins floating about here so you are in good company. Happy posting
Hi, Actually my parents were married in the chapel at 6 Bomber Group Headquarters in Knaresborough. If you look across the water from Old Fort Henry you'll see the Royal Military Colledge which is Canada's Military University similar to Sandhurst, West Point and Annapolis (sp?). Regards,
