    Why would a soldier involved in Op Varsity be classified as Died, not in battle?

    Thanks, mate. Had quite forgotten I'd posed the question. Your conclusion makes sense. Interesting thing about the soldier, whose record shows this, is that his body was never found. He was a member of the 513th PIR. Still trying to get any info on him from surviving 513th vets.
