Sorry, Never heard of Valkyrie LOL http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-films-tv/23190-cruises-valkyrie-ride-delayed-again.html http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-films-tv/25906-more-valkyrie-woes-extras-sue-tom-cruise.html http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-films-tv/24642-tom-cruise-films-world-war-ii-drama-victor-valley.html http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-films-tv/21663-v-l-k-y-r-i-e.html
Maybe old TC is not happy with it and wants to re-shoot some scenes again. At this rate it may pop up in the bargain DVD bucket at your local store.
Hi JC. I seen an AD for Valkyrie Thanksgiving Day while watching the Lions get pummeled. Interestingly enough it still said just December for a release.
Here is a link to an interesting interview with V's screenwriter . . . . Valkyrie - An Interview with Christopher McQuarrie » Armchair General
I know the guy is a wack-a-doo, but I am actually looking forward to the movie. I've never had a problem with him and have always enjoyed his films. With the subject matter being what it is, I'm sure I'll like it. I do worry that all the controversy that he generates will overshadow what may be an excellent film.
I don't think the controversy will affect the film. I can't wait to finally be able to see it, it seems like it has taken forever for this film to finally be released. I doubt I will see it on Christmas day however, probably the day after.
Just heard from a guy who saw Valkyrie in a private viewing, he said it was awesome and also said its a "Nazi Mission Impossible". -Referring to the first one in the series not the horrible sequel.
What upsets me by watching the trailers is, every German appears to speak English... Cruise didn't seem to have much of an accent at all either....
I agree which is why I love The Downfall and The Longest Day, then again at least I don't have to be trying to watch the movie and read the subtitles.
If the dialog is in English, there is no reason for the German characters to have German accents. They would have been speaking German without accents so it makes sense that they would not have an accent when the script is in English. If the film were in both English and German, then you would expect the German characters to speak English with a German accent. If Lias Co. Pilot is checking in on this thread, I will appreciate his opinion on this subject, as I seem to recall that he is writing a screenplay.
Just like in Band Of Brothers. When the German general was speaking to the troops at the end, he spoke to them in German, not English. When the German colonel surrendered to Winters, of course he spoke English so Winters would understand him, yet he spoke with a broken English accent. That is the point I was trying to make.
