    TA-152,

"I hope he turns out to be a great President because if he is not then it would pave the way for the Chinese to eventually pass us as a world power. Not a nice thought but why are we taking all of their money ?"

Actually, the USA should be wetting themselves laughing!

The Chinese work their bums off making stuff to sell as cheap as hell to the Yanks. The Yanks pay them in US Dollars, and the Chinese then buy US Treasury Bonds in such HUGE amounts that nobody, including the USA , can possibly buy or redeem them.

The USA gets the dollars back and the Chinese get bits of paper they cannot sell or redeem.

    HO! HO!

    John.

If Obama was a statesman he would promise the truth.
    "blood, sweat, tears, and toil."
We are all on thin ice, and frankly the most important leader in the west doesn't inspire confidence...

Stevin me old mucker...thats polish for friend by the way...long time no see..youve been busy obviously....guarding the bridges....

Sorry, but you know me...my boats and I cant talk for any others on here...were not exactly for a river crossing...I was thinking more the British way...errr....evacuation...we Brits always like to occupy other countries as long as we get the bit closest to the sea....Look back at British forces in history....see the way the water is how shall we say....quite close....its A Brit thing...

And others are correct..The Chinese are not communist....I went for a takeaway spring roll and chop suey with chow mein and ribs last night...guy behind counter says...have you a card sir...so I shows him my fully signed up membership of the communist party card...a free thing I got while shopping in Tesco's, you get more points for every red signed item I believe...but he wouldnt take it...wanted American Express...well as an anti capatilist, and fully fledged half baked British Liberal with right wing tendancies, I took my business elsewhere....I had fish and chips with extra batter bits....Buy British...it will solve the problem...problem is if USA cousins then buy American...

As for elections...Id love to have one...will my vote count though....Apparantly Im told lunatics dont get the vote...so that leaves me and a few others here out of the equation.

As my old dad used to say...and Im having trouble staying on topic here..but better before ZA gives me a tongue lashing...its on topic. My dad was ww2 R.Navy, he used to say dont vote..it only encourages em....

With that Ill bow out of USA politics...Pity all politicians the world over dont do the same.

Vote for the winner...they always win in the end.

No, Bigfun, China at present is anything but Communist both in economical and political terms. It is run by the same old Communist party, but that's only the clique hanging on to power and privilege for as long as they can. Still a dictatorship, but you can't call it Communist in technical terms.

    Yes it is!

As concerns the US President elect: we can only hope he's up to the job because he is inheriting the biggest problem ever.

And no doubt he will attempt to solve it by throwing money at it. Which of course isn't the answer at all.

To me out here it underscores the inherent weakness of the US political scene. A head of state with huge decision making powers and who has to spend countless millions getting there.

It strikes me that the US public were voting for a man and not for a set of policies.

Okay Za, you mean in the technical sense of true communism? Because I keep looking it up and everything I see says that the only "party" in China is the CPC, Communist Party of China.

Sounds like their a few tacit rednecks that would love to see Obama assasinated because he is black, nothing more or less, their are some here shouting off their collective mouths that to me that they have put George Walker Bush as a living God.

What a glorious legacy George Walker Bush has left for the USA and that is being Saudi Arabia's bitch.

Just because you call a tree a boom box doesn't make it so. In communism, liberal markets and investment houses can't exist.

    Cheers...

China is trying to have it both ways; running the economy under a capitalistic system, and controlling the state with a Communistic bureaucracy. If this continues, however, the CPC is quite literally a "dead man walking". Sooner or later, the Chinese public will demand more power that the communists are willing to surrender.

The only way that can ever happen is that some remarkable events takes place and they are the Chinese folk rise up and then the Army and Police do absolutely nothing, they turn their backs on those in power, but until the folks can get the Army and Police on their side nothing ain't gonna happen.

That's quite what DA and M.B. said, Bigfun. China is still a dictatorship and will remain so, while the CPC is Communist in name only. Whatever form of transition will follow or when, nobody knows.

I think that too many people focus on the office of the President and forget about the Senate and the House. The problem is all of these Senators and Representatives that spend 20 to 30 years or more in office and forget the people they are supposed to represent and instead take care of the special interests and themselves. I hope Mr. Obama does a good job but he needs to realize that government that governs the best governs the least. Let market factors take care of themselves and keep government involvement to a minimum.

As the official speaker of the Conservative Circlejerk Club, I blame Obama's election onthe stupid law that forbid Mr Bush to run for a third term.

With such a record, Bush would have won, now Obama will reap all the benefits of Bush eight years of hard work.

Mr Obama, you're definately not welcome to the Club !
