The internet might have stopped Hitler, says Nobel prize winner | Mail Online

This would be a good what if......Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio, winner of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Literature states that The Internet is such a powerful public tool that had it existed earlier it may have prevented Hitler and the Second World War.

Interesting view. I'm sure that Germany could have been censored the internet just like China censors it. So I'm not sure I agree about the internet stopping Hitler but I am sure it would have made the world more aware of what was going on in Germany

What a load of, uh, peanuts! If the internet could have stopped Hitler, then why didn't it, say, stop the Ethnic Cleansing in the Balkans? Or all the Civil Wars and Ethnic Cleansing in Africa? (Do i need to go on?)

And if the Internet is such a breeding ground for neonazis and wannabes, imagine then!

Here's a current example of how it might have worked.

Haha, uncle Addi banned from the forum for acting as a troll, I love the idea , that"ll teach him for promoting hatred, using an avatar with swastikas all over the place, claiming he needs more vital place for his postings and using CAPITAL letters only , there's no need to shout :D

Now that is a good point. Look at what he accomplished with what he had. Even to this day, Leni's flick is still studied for movie artist's educational purposes only.

Thats a very interesting hypotheses. you have to wonder how someone like Goebbels would have handled the internet. He did a splendid job of brainwashing the German people with movies, print and radio. So there's no reason i'd think he wouldn't have somehow twisted the net to say what he wanted said. But yes the Nazis would have filtered the net coming into Germany, thats a safe assumption.

As a side note that has nothing to do with the discussion: Hitler's favorite movie was "King Kong". Obviously the irony of the story was completely missed by him.

This is a bunch of crap. If anything the internet would speed the information of Nazi propaganda.
