I am reading a book about Erich Hartmann. In the book it says that Hitler had a weak right arm and later tremors. I have also see a documentry on the same situation. Did Hitler end up with Parkinsons or did he have something else wrong with him. I am new and I did know if there is a forum already on this subject
A number of recent books have speculated that Hitler ( toward the end of his life ) was showing symptoms of Parkinsomism, possibly exacerbated by the assassination attempt in July 1944. There have also been various books discussing Hitlers' medical history and it's now generally accepted that his doctors ( especially Morrell ) were recommending various untried/untested medicines which it is now belived could have adversely affected his overall health and judgement.
Howdy and welcome to the forum. There have been many speculations on Hitler's health towards the end of the war but nothing substantial. My guess would be Hitler's drug cocktails affected his physical well being. Again, welcome and Happy posting.
Ian Kershaw, in Volume II of his Hitler ( Allen Lane, 2000 ) summarizes Hitler's health problems on pp.727-728. His health was certainly declining by 1944 and included a diagnosed progressive cardiac weakness in addition to Parkinson's Syndrome. Despite the onset of these conditions, Kershaw surmises that by the Autumn of '44, his physical problems were more than likely caused by lifestyle, diet, lack of exercise amd excessive mental strain.
