Last weekend i've been on another trip with 272VGD and did some more searching in the area where we dug before, and with result. This is only my part of the findings. A nice US spoon in good condition: With the number/year 42 incrypted: Some various US and German items: A part of a German steelgranade with WaA marking: 2 British badges found together at a spot where US troops fought. One from The Royal Scots regiment and one awarded to woman who did labour on the fields back home when the men where in war. And a German shoe in fairly good shape:
Last weekend a friend and i stumbled over a piece of terrain that was never searched before, no holes from diggers that where there before us. We found several foxholes and larger dugouts, they where former German positions with where taken over by US troops. These are the items i found, including my first EKM, although in bad shape it still is one.
Great finds! I wonder why the woman's medal was found in the combat area? Given to a boyfriend, perhaps?
Also an update for the Eifel region, 272VGD and i found a spot where no one ever dug before and several more items came to the surface.

It's been a while since i've done an update but i haven't been sitting still! The winter period here last year and beginning of this year made it hard to go searching but i've done some digging before the weather got worse. This is what i found when on some trips with 272VGD late last year. This item came out of an US dugout, together with the other items:
Hey Guys! Sorry that I write in this topic, but I didnt want to start a new one for this.... I found these black rods (18mm long, 8mm in diameter) on a field near to aachen, where I already found an empty german WW2 rifle cartrigde. these black pellets have 7 small holes going all through the stick. They burn slowly but completely with nearly no residue. The flame is intense orange and smells like NC, so I estimate they consist completely of nitrocellulose. I assume they were used as a propellant for high calibre cannons or artillery. Does anyone know what it is exactly and perhaps for which weapon type it was used? Just curious! Thanks a lot!
