Why? The US bazooka of WW 2 used a 2.36 inch (60mm) rocket. The German design used a 88 mm (3.95") rocket. A HEAT round's penetration is determined by the diameter and depth of the cone in the warhead. The German round having a larger cone penetrated more.
On the other hand, the German panzerschrek had only about 150 meters of range at most due to poor propellent and its weight while the US bazooka could be fired to nearly 600 meters.

    Huh?

Reload and ask that question again.

As Yoda would say, "Make sense, that sentence does not."

During Op Varsity, PFC Robert Weber, 3rd Bn 194th GIR, lobbed a bazooka round 600 yards straight into the open turret of a Mk IV. This while under fire and in a 'grab any cover you can' situation.
