Jews outraged by Holocaust-denying bishop

The Pope is "not amused";

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican demanded Wednesday that a bishop who denied the Holocaust recant his positions before being fully admitted into the Roman Catholic Church.

The Vatican also said in a statement that Pope Benedict XVI didn't know about Bishop Richard Williamson's views when he agreed to lift his excommunication and that of three other ultraconservative bishops Jan. 21.

What my limited knowledge of laws in Europe that is a crime within the EU to deny the Holocaust, so if that is the case then why isn't this bishop arrested and charged with Holocaust Denial.

How can he deny that there were no gas chambers if there were. this is outrageous especially because I'm a Jew and my great great grandfather was killed in a concentration camp.

BERLIN (AP) — A bishop who faces a Vatican demand to recant his denial of the Holocaust said he would correct himself if he is satisfied by the evidence, but insisted that examining it "will take time," a German magazine reported Saturday.

Richard Williamson is one of four bishops from the ultraconservative Society of St. Pius X whose excommunication was lifted by the Vatican last month. The decision sparked outrage because Williamson had said in a television interview he did not believe any Jews were gassed during the Holocaust.

On Wednesday, the Vatican demanded that Williamson recant his denial before he can be admitted as a bishop into the Roman Catholic Church. Williamson made clear he does not plan to comply immediately, the weekly Der Spiegel reported.

"Since I see that there are many honest and intelligent people who think differently, I must look again at the historical evidence," the British bishop was quoted as saying. It is about historical evidence, not about emotions," he added, according to the report. "And if I find this evidence, I will correct myself. But that will take time."

Der Spiegel said Williamson, who lives in Argentina, insisted on having questions faxed to him and sent his replies by e-mail. It said their authenticity was confirmed in a phone call by Williamson and a lawyer for the Society of St. Pius X.

Williamson has apologized to Pope Benedict XVI for having stirred controversy, but has not repudiated his comments, in which he also said only 200,000 to 300,000 Jews were killed during World War II and none was gassed.

"I was convinced that my comments were right on the basis of my research in the '80s," Der Spiegel quoted Williamson as saying. "I must now examine everything again and look at the evidence."

The magazine suggested that he could make a personal visit to the former Auschwitz death camp. Williamson replied: "I will not go to Auschwitz," it said.

These ultras are either ignorant or dangerous deniers because they use their influence to convinve others. People tend to trust clergymen and using this ability to vomit hatred is just evil.

 

Unfortunately the "gentleman" will probaby limit his research for new evidence to the IHR, CODOH, or other David Irving, i.e. denier sites and manufactured/taken out of context documents. While ignoring those documents the Nazis created themselves, and failed to destroy as per the "plan" as they were loosing the war.

I suppose spending your time in Argentina might have something to do with it as well, the pro-Nazi Peron regime and those who favored the Nazis even after Peron's ouster might surely wish that the Holocaust never happened. But they are just trying to "put lipstick on the old wh*re" of National Socialism.

 

Well, it seems Bishop Richard Williamson has now been dismissed as director of a seminary in La Reja, outside Buenos Aires for his views on the Holocaust, and it also appears that this belief of his should have been known by the Vatican before he was "rehabilitated" and his excommunication lifted. The Pope may not have known much about the man personally, but it is inexcusable that those in the Vatican who are supposed to advise him didn’t.

This next is from my local newspaper here in Billings, it is an AP connection, but the AP main page doesn’t include this next portion which shows the man has been spouting this crapola publicly for two decades at least:

…He reportedly also expressed similar views while serving as rector of the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Winona, Minnesota, between 1988 and 2003.

"There was not one Jew killed in the gas chambers. It was all lies, lies, lies," Williamson said in a 1989 speech at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes church in Sherbrooke, Canada, the Winona Daily News reported Sunday.

In the same speech, the paper said Williamson also claimed that "the Jews created the Holocaust so we would prostrate ourselves on our knees before them and approve of their new State of Israel ... Jews made up the Holocaust, Protestants get their orders from the devil and the Vatican has sold its soul to liberalism."

The Daily News reported that the bishop also wrote letters in 2001 and 2002 blaming "Judeo-Masonry" for the two world wars and claiming that Jews were bent on world domination.

Yeah, I too wondered why the Islamic culture wasn't jumped on too! Mayhaps he agrees with the radical Islamic fundamentalists, anti-Christian, anti-Jew, anti-everything but a warped/strict reading of the Koran.

 

Issuing his strongest condemnation of Holocaust denial yet, Benedict affirmed the Catholic Church was "profoundly and irrevocably committed to reject all anti-Semitism."

"The hatred and contempt for men, women and children that was manifested in the Shoah was a crime against God and against humanity," Benedict said, using the Hebrew term for the Holocaust. "This should be clear to everyone, especially to those standing in the tradition of the Holy Scriptures."

"It is beyond question that any denial or minimization of this terrible crime is intolerable and altogether unacceptable," he said during the meeting in the Vatican's Apostolic Palace.

Argentina expels Holocaust bishop

Argentina has ordered an ultra-traditionalist British bishop who denies the Holocaust to leave the country or face expulsion.

The interior ministry said Richard Williamson had been given 10 days to leave Argentina.

Earlier this month the bishop was removed from his post as the head of a Roman Catholic seminary in Argentina.

 

Wonder where he will go? Who wants to admit a fellow like this? Do any of the stories reveal his nation of origin? I don't recall if it was Great Britain or where exactly.

Richard Wiliamson still doesn't get it, does he!

Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said Friday that Bishop Richard Williamson's statement "does not seem to respect the conditions" the Vatican set out for him.

Williamson apologized for his remarks Thursday. But he did not say his comments had been erroneous, or that he no longer believed them...

Bishop Richard Williamson has equally odd idea's on other issue's as well. He thinks that 9/11 was set up by the US government and that women are inferior to men !

 

I think this controversy only re-affirm my belief that the root problem with the Lefebvrian schism is political. It was very well known that Lefebvre and many of his followers had extreme right-winged, fascist, political ideas. And that is why they rejected the teachings of the II Vatican Council. They used the Latin Mass as an excuse, but the real problem was accepting freedom of conscience, pacifism, the rightoussness of political revolution, social justice, ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue... How would an anti-semite accept Judaism as a respectable, true path towards God? How would he share a table with a man responsible of the death of Jesus Christ?

Mel Gibson and his father are another example. His father believed Vatican II was a judeo-marxist-masonic conspiracy to destroy the Catholic Church. He called the Popes not only herectic, but John XXIII a freemason and Paul VI a communist homosexual...

Bishop Williamson is one of the same kind...
