    Hey all,

I am currently trying to compile a good list of sources for writing a research paper on the Allied attack on Aachen in Oct. 1944. Does anyone know of some good memoirs of Allied soldiers who participated in the battle? I know the national archives has a trove of documents, however, seeing that they are located in Maryland, its unfeasible for me to take a trip up there.

Do you know of any other good primary sources out there that I could take a look at?

You two will probably be OK when you contact each other, but as others may also be interested in Aachen I thought I'd throw in my two penn'orth....

One of the few books I know of on the subject is Charles Whiting's 'Bloody Aachen' but I can't recommend it as I do not like his books and have none in my library. Much more interesting is After The Battle magazine # 42, Battle For Aachen which has a comprehensive illustrated overview of the battle containing individual action accounts.
