Hello all I guess you can call me "Andypants".....Im a longtime reader, so decided it was time, and that I might as well jump on the bandwagon with you guys . Im Irish-American, born in NYC, but my parents decided to move back to Ireland when I was young. Im only 22, but the years I lived in the city helped kick-start my healthy interest in Military history!.... was a great time really because living in such a densly populated area ment we were surrounded by veterans of many wars! (plenty of WW2 /Korea /Vietnam...and no shortage of guys coming back from the Gulf War.......saying that I remember having and still having great respect and interest for them all - I just wish i was a little older at the time, so I would have been able to have good confersations with them and the sence to ask proper quetions as opposed to childish ones! Looking back, I remember one in particular, a WW2 vet who my dad used to be friends with and helped look after him in this later years....I remember playing in "John's apartment" as a little boy......sadly only a few years after his death did I discover that he had gone ashore on June 6th 44.......appartly in the first or second wave - If only I had known!!!! Anyway Im interested in many aspects of military history - which Im sure you guys will learn (all in good time ) and I've even started collecting some peices when my finances allow, mostly helmets at the moment - again I'll post some pics of the nice ones - see what you guys think I guess thats all for now, you guys have a lot of knowledge and Im more then willing to read and learn....maybe even give my 2cents! Look forward to some good conversations - Gud Luc AndyPants
