hey Jaguwar it can depend on what your looking for and how much your willing to spend - I'm still a student so I have to becareful with my purchases (lack of money ).....as a result I stay away from dealers - as they know what they have, so price according (sometimes with a big profit).....I do have a look around ebay from time to time - but be very careful and do your research before you buy anything expensive! As for me I'm very interested in collecting helmets and general fieldgear so I have a little look at 'yard sales', markets and junk shops as often times people can be selling something interesting / valuable that they don't really know........but you may find them very interesting!! plus I like the added effect of actually re-discovering an old helmet or badge, with possibly a story behind it too - That usually makes my day and so I enjoy the purchase all the more. Hope this helps you out AndyPants
I'll give you info about some i've dealt with in the past. These include the usual suspects. http://www.ww2f.com/militaria/www.weitze.com http://www.ww2f.com/militaria/www.carstenbaldes.com Detlev Niemann - Orden und militärhistorische Antiquitäten Galerie d'Histoire - Historische Antiquitäten und Orden Der Rittmeister Militaria Entrance Page Black Cross Military Collectibles, Militaria For Sale, German WWII, Reproduction Military collectibles, Military Antiques, Militaria Antiques Stay away from: Lakeside traders because they are way over-priced. The Ruptured Duck-ditto the above. Third Reich Depot-ditto the above. Peter Lukacs-because he's a fraud, liar and a thief. jamie cross-because he is WAYYYYYYYYYYY too expensive for the crap he peddles, is another liar, and also likes to make up stories about the militaria he peddles. I KNOW that for a fact because I made a trade w/ a good friend and well-known West Coast Militaria collector for a small grouping that belonged to an Marine Inf Rgmt NCO-and that I traded two Bavarian Medal Bars for-and my friend traded them to jamie cross for something. Well,ju st for the hell of it-I went to jcs site and saw my two ex-medalbars for sale on his site for well-over three times what they were worth-and both had suddenly and by some miracle--suddenly had "stories" about them both-which was totally not true. I know other good dealers to deal with-but I aint sharing info about their sites so their sites don't become a "Feeding Frenzy" like all the others have become. Call me greedy if you will ;-))
Ah yes,I had forgotten about those guys. PS,I remembered another dealer to stay away from because his wares are nothing but over-price crap. That dealer is George Johns who is in Oregon. He's another overpriced rip-off and also doesn't know $h!t from shinola about militaria.
