Hello all. Came across this forum whilst searching for info on my uncle who gave the ultimate sacrifice in WW2. I'll be posting more about that in the Information forum. I was born in the 60's and have been interested in military and political conflict since I was a youngster. The first book that I can remember reading about a military leader was one on the Sioux leader, Crazy Horse. I am most interested in all aspects of WW2, particularly the European theater. I haven't had a chance to read through the various threads in depth, but it is obvious that there are some very learned and resourceful folks here. I can tell you my knowledge is quite limited by comparison. Looking forward to getting to know some of you! BTW.....Merritt is for one of two Canadians awarded the VC at Dieppe in 1942. The meaning of the avatar is more personal.......
Lt. Col. Charles Cecil Ingersoll Merritt - Veterans Affairs Canada Welcome to the Forum, Merritt. Good name choice. You will find several Canadians on the Forum, such as myself. You will find a lot of interesting threads, and meet some interesting and fine rogues...some have already introduced themselves.
Thanks for the welcoming words. I've been enjoying surfing through the various threads; lots of great info mixed in with some interesting points of view. No hits yet on getting more info on 78 Sqdn. RAF, but the search is all part of the enjoyment. Cheers!
Hello Merritt! Welcome to a fine place. I can see you have already met a few of the elder statesmen (and Macrusk who cannot be called an elder as she remains a fair flower in bloom!). You will enjoy your time here. Cheers!
