Carl ole buddy, your right. I had forgotten about the dishonrable discharge, but I still think he s loved America and it's history, and tryed to make films that were accurate and inspireing. I rember hearing that his studio turned out a lot of nose art during the war and charged nothing for it. I think to, he produced some of the training films for the Army.....What the heck I was discharged as a PVT. myself (the captain got mad because I beat him in the spelling bee!)
No problem there--he DID do a good many excellent service for his country--just look at all that came out of ww2 for instance
I loved Pearl Harbour for its effects, but its historical sources are a filth! A very important error they had is that Admiral Yamamoto was in Japan in the Yamato, not in the carriers which attacked!!!!!!! How can that be possible! I am not going to mention the horrendous and boring love story... I also loved the scenes of the Battle of Britain. But it is not fair to put into a three hours film three glorious ephisodes of the war which would take years to tell entirely! The war film of 2001: Enemy at the gates of course! Who did not love to watch major Koenigs' Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub!!!!!!! Or watch Von Paulu's uniform!!! The Stukas!!!! The glorius scenes with the red flags!!! The passion!!! the tragedy!!!!! SPR is simply sublime!!! I love that Spielberg is obsessione dwith huge monsters chasing the characters: Jaws, Jurasic pARK. Instead of a Tyranosaurus Rex there was a 60 tons Tiger!!!! And it was a butchery of Amerikans. ( i am sorry, but in nearly all films we are shot as ducks... ) Band of Brothers is the perfect example. It is so nicely done. But we seem like idiots!!!! It seems like if the bloody Easy Company of 101st division won the war alone!!!!
