One thing I have noticed in the "Awards Ceremony" type pictures is that the troops are kind of short and dumpy looking and the Officers are quite a bit taller than most of the men. I realize that status, breading and the inherint better nutrition of the officer's plays a big part. I just think it's odd. Great pics though
Thanks Brad. Heh heh, I noticed that too in other pics I have and or have seen for sale. The first series of four shots I got that show Soldiers being awarded EKIIs-was about 9 or so years ago. I noticed those were early war-probably Fall of 39 or no later than sometime in 40. Anyway, the office awarding those guys their EKs was a bit portly-and was probably a retread, as I think he was only a Hauptmann-and as a 2 war Vet-that's a low rank to have provided he didn't have to come up through the ranks and or that he had left the service when WWI ended-then being recalled. Thanks though, glad you liked these. I was considering trying for more but think ill hold off for awhile untill I get some deals im working on completed.
They are great pictures Carl and yes they are dresse din some eclectic way. My favourite one is the Panzer crew (I believe it is one , unless i' m wrong) being decorated in the last pic.
Hi Skipper, Kai, thank both of you Gents ;-)) Skipper, your absolutely correct about the last picture being a Panzer Crew pic. It too is my favorite out of these newest ones. I wished I could have got a few RKT award ceremony pics to an officer in Schutzen Regiment 10-they were named and these were some of the best I have seen for sale. I went to try to get them but my computer ran so slow once it got to the site and I lost out on all of them. I know there will be more offered in the near future-so ill try for those. I was lucky in that I did get a few personal RKT pics taken by RKT Glatzner-and some with him and RKT Hemmann (His Regimental CO) and another RKT by the name of Winke. Sadly, Winke was killed in Action, but Hemmann and Glatzner survived the war. Hemmann passed away in 1959 and we think Glatzner could still be alive-and if so-he's 93 this year ;-)) Kai, I GOTTA try to catch up to you a bit in the great pics dept ;-)) Your Dietl is a stunning one to say the least ;-)) Now if I could only sell off a few badges I don't need in order to raise more money for pics???? :-D
Thank you 36th - and that last show is my favorite of this batch. Im going to try to go for more this week if possible? I missed out on three great WWI pics-one was of General von Mackensen (Father of the WWII Gen.der Kav-Eberhard von Mackensen) and a great pic of GFM Paul von Hindenberg-which the seller had not identified by some miracle--and had that photo for sucha low price. He even got the awards wrong in saying that Hindenbergs Grand Cross of the Iron Cross-was a Knights Cross.
Hi Mr. Evans, As you can tell by my surname here on this forum I collect WWII German photographs. Your collection is very impressive indeed! I was wondering though what photo paper your pictures were printed on. I'd be really be interested for my own education to see what manufacturer provided paper for your great photos . Thanks for your time Mr. Evans Agfa
Hi Agfa, thank you for the nice comments. Im not sure exactly who all the different photo-paper amkers are but, many in my collection are indeed Agfa, and there are several other brands but-I don't have my collection handy at the moment because they are all at a photo studio getting transferred to photo CDs. This is supposed to take a few weeks to finish because the guy doing this for me, has two seerate weeks of vacation that he's taking and I have some 350? pics that he's scanning for me in between his vacation times ;-)) Many of the pics also don't have manufacturer info though. I even have some eleve pics that I bought from a guy who bought a sizable collection o NKVD file photos that were for sale some 10 or so years ago. Those also have manufacturers info on some of them-but off hand, I can't think of what company is represented. I hope to see some of your collection posted here sometime ;-)) Right now im only buying just a few pic at a time because my money is stretched tight becauseof recent purchases as well as a possible 5 more purchases soon. After I get my collection back from the photo studio, ill gladly look to see what makers names I can find and will post them. If you don't see them listed after I get my pics back/ it only means that I forgot about it and need to be reminded. I forget to do a lot of things because I get so busy doing all-kinds of research and stuff, and it's easy to lose track of what im doing. Plus, im a member of several historical and militaria sites and such, and I get busy on those sites as well. Anyway, give me at least a few weeks because I am unsure of exactly when all my pics will be scanned? and it might take that long. If I get them back, ill try to remember to announce it here. Take care-_carl.
Thanks for the reply Carl. I'd be most interested when you get your pictures back from your studio! I'll keep an eye out in a few weeks! Until then, Agfa
Hi Agfa, thanks again and im hoping they will finally be completed by then ;-)) Im going to call them up on Monday and see what's going on? Also, one thing I noticed about that white helmeted Officer, is that he's wearing Enlistedmens boots and they are ill fitting.
Bumped for Stewy. Stewy, you will see that many images are gone now but many good ones still to be seen.
Nice pics Carl, some in there i wish i had. I might have to post my Heydrich funeral press pics. They're an awesome set,i think you've seen 'em mate. Stewy
Carl the white helmeted offizier is from Stab, he is not field line. his boots are not winter issue like the soldiers in white camo although he is being presented with the EK II he may have in fact been moved to the front just in this very instance. heck there was much action in the witner in the rear lines of communique ' obviously I am only guessing but .......... gotta say though those upright unlined boots were toatl crap the Heer and other branches found out real quick. ~ he may of even just come from the local field kitchen after a nice hot pretzel as he is not wearing regulation white oversmock/jacket for winter wear
Hi Stewy, thanks and, I indeed have seen them I think on warrelics? Those were some great pics ;-)) I have a lot more from where these came from ;-)) Im frustrated becauise I don't have a way or knowledge to post these over at wartradersguild. If you felt up to it? would you mind posting some fo these over there for me? It might break up any monotony that might have set in with the guys waiting for my pics to get posted ;-))
Hi E, no telling about the Offizier ;-)) However, he did get his EKI SPange. It's pinnned to his right pocket flap ;-)) I have one other pic that shows a Pioneer Hauptmann who was awarded his EKI spange and a few other Offizier who got the EKI and the rest of the detachment all got EKIIs. When I get done buying a few more awards this month (hopefully) I plan on starting to go for more pics too. ;-)) I think I also need to buy a new keyboard, this ones keys stick too much and im tired of spending half my time editing to correct errors.
Hi Collector, Agfa, Collector is correct, this guy is great to deal with. Agfa, send me a PM and ill tell you who he is. I have a few others I buy fro but, i don't buy much from them even though they are great to deal with. Also, watch out for a jerk that has the username of Kiev1943-he also has at least three other aliases he uses on ebay. This guy is a fraud and a thief and a liar. He still owes me well over $100 in refund for repop pics. This refund allegedly was sent to me two months ago but he lies about everything. Im about to start contacting all of those who buy from this jerk to let them know they are buying repop junk.
Thanks for telling us about this Carl ,unfortunately there are more and more crooks like that on the net and things will only get worse with greed and real pics getting scarce .
