Hi All Just joined the forum. Stumbled upon you while googling Operation SeaLion. 1. Your Name: David. Chosen Unteroffizier for now - Sargeant in German I gather. I play German's in WW2 wargames. 2. Age: 43. How long have you been interested in WWII? Since 1980. 3. Origins: Where are you from? UK though born in Germany. Dad was in the BAOR. 4. Specifics: What areas of WWII are you interested in? Alternative History - so what if Op Sea Lion did happen? What if Hitler had been assasinated and Rommel had taken over would Rommel have sued for peace - DDAy may have already happened by then? Currently interested in Late NW Europe (Market-Garden especially) and Ostfront. But expanding into other periods. Not so interested in the early war or in the Aisa Pacific theatre. What would you like to know more about? Don't know yet. 5. Hobbies: What sort of Hobbies do you have? Wargaming - just got back into WW2 (was the period that got me into wargaming back in 1980). I'm about to play a game in North Africa at my local wargames club. Also going to run a few games set from Normandy onwards and the Ost Front. I have Command Decision, BlitzkriegCommander, Spearhead, Flames of War (though I don't like their GW policy of thousands of supplements), Crossfire and I Ain't Been Shot Mum! Video-games? Suddent Strike - I love it! Memorabilia? No - not really interested in this - odd that - don't know why. Visiting historic sites? Arnhem is definitely a place I want to visit. I don't know why I'm so interested in that battle. I've got more on that operation than any other battle of WW2. 6. Other: What other time periods are you interested in? Specific eras? English Civil War, Ancients (all periods - Warmaster Ancients, DBM), Medieval, Napoleonic Age of Sail, Fantasy and SF wargames - whole load (Celtos, Fantasy Warmaster, Armies of Arcana, 15mm Warhammer - not a GW figure in sight! - Stargrunt, starship combat, Future War Commander). Why? Because! I'm interested in them. I like variety and SF and Fantasy allow my imagination to run riot. 7. Miscellaneous: Don't know what to put here - think I've said enough. I am struck by the extraordinary heroism of combatants in WW2, on all sides. They were all like us - each had hobbies, had love ones, were trained in something (one might have been a teacher, an engineer, a scientist, a builder, a farmer, etc. and they were snuffed out like candles without any more thought than they were an extra body to fight. It's what makes me unable to forget WW2.

Howdy Unteroffizier and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you with us. Excellent introduction. Happy posting.
Hello and welcome! This is a fine place and you have given us a fine first post! Enjoy your time here. Cheers!
Thank you for the salute. I read the mail from Otto and followed it. Saw Peppy's list of pet hates so will aim not to attract opportunity fire from any of you. I've already read a few threads - especially Sea Lion. Looking forward to reading more and asking some further questions. I'll be pointing some of the Maidstone Wargames Society to this forum. And thank you to all the other replies abovetoo. Didn't expect such a warm welcome. David
