    Very good Mussolini!
Then obviously your next Targets are France, Spain, Portugal and Britain? I tried playing as the Prussians and found it difficult, whats the best way to start up?

Today I completed a Short Campaign in Empire Total War.

In the Short Campaign I ran into a lot less issues than in the Long Campaign. I had 2 freezes within a battle but absolutely no CTD's at the end of a turn. Not only that but the delay times appeared to be less.

Yes, the Short Campaign isn't as fulfilling as the Long Campaign, but you do have the option to Continue which would in essence make it a Long Campaign anyway.

I may try the Long Campaign again to see whether I could make it through if I just don't load up any of the auto-saves associated with the CTD's I will have. Of course this will mean I will want to save every other turn.

As of today; still no patch.

Yeah, see when I finished the long campaign, it didn't give me an option to quit or continue. Just told me to keep holding my 45 territories until 1799.... not sure if that's a bug or if I have to sit here for 50 more turns waiting for the end of the world, err, game... :D

I'm pretty sure the Long Campaign is supposed to end in 1799. That message that pops up just lets you know you've conquered all the territories that you need in order to complete it.

I've conquered my 40 (as Prussia) and its about 1777....once I finish of the Swedes and hit up Persia, i'll have well over 50 Provinces.

Yeah, I figured that is the direction it's going - that's fine because I am still enjoying the hell out of it. I've even started another campaign as the Brits.... a little more difficult as I don't have alot of territories to start with in the beginning.

Try Prussia...you only start with 2 Provinces, and they aren't even connected! AND you start at war with Poland-Lithuania!

    Wussy.

As Prussia, I am on the verge of owning everything East of France, and North of Italy and Greece. Just need to finish off some Swedes in Finland. I've done what both Napoleon and Hitler couldn't do - CONQUER RUSSIA!

Just wondering, would it be possible on this one to change the start date like you could in Medieval 2?
E.G. Once on M2 I discovered gunpowder in like 2000BC.

You can change the start date in Medieval 2?

does this lengthen your game play?

Not in MTW2. You have to change the turn number (i think the default is 2 per year, you can change it to 4 i think).

ETW is not mod friendly. Because of STEAM...all the files are different and things aren't easily accessed. Stupid steam.

    Blasted Steam.

Slon, yes you can change the start and end dates for the game. E.G. you can set the start date to 2009 as long as the end date is after that.
It's a file called dscr_strat I think. Not really done it for ages.

I am hoping they unlock other factions you can use after you finish the main campaign like they did with MTW....

Musso, you mean 'plug bayonets' right? Butt plugs are a bit different are they not?!

Got it as soon as it came out and loving it, as the British Empire I have wiped out most of my opponants but now the game keeps crashing which is a pain. I hope everyone has discovered the 'from the soldiers eyes' function (press insert with a single unit selected) which can be fun.

    Great stuff!

I finished off the Swedes (they actually had armies to fight! The Russians should have taken lessons...) and have invaded Persia. I control 50 Provinces and might just attack the Ottomans to make everything East of France look all pretty in Blue.

The next Province I take (Persia is like Russia, huge province) will land me in...INDIA! Which means my Prussian Empire will control Provinces in Europe, North America (added New Mexico a while ago) and India! Hows that for an Empire! Its also around 1780.

I no have a terrible problem. The sound lags behind the action by a minute or two, resulting in quiet battles then random musket sounds happening. Very annoying.

By teh way my British empire consists of all of America, top half of india (Will stab my Maratha allies in the back soon) and most of western Europe (Will push into rest of Europe too). My next big plan is to take the Ottomans out via Persia and Nort hAfrica.

Under what circumstance does the game keep crashing? Does it not want to load past a certain year such as in my circumstance or is it a random crash?

Yesterday I got a new annoying bug. The last 2 battles I've fought the ground has turned a strange pinkish hue. This makes it very hard to see what's going on.
