Grandma's shoe box of WWII items have gotten me interested in my Uncle Bill's history. Squadron 166, LM176, Landcaster identification Code AS-X is one of seven Landcasters with the same code. Can someone explain why so many aircraft with the same code. How does this system work?
    Thanks
