Hi, I'm Gungrease and I'm new here. I need help identifying a WWII Imperial Japanese Navy brass 2-piece dress sword belt buckle that has recently come to light after 64 years of drawer storage. Perhaps some background on it would also help. Two pics attached. I recently obtained it from the son whose late WWII navy vet father picked it up as being in one of the first naval medical units to go ashore in Tokyo just after the surrender. I cannot find any matching buckle on the net, perhaps looking in the wrong places. My guess, and only a guess, is that it may be an Imperial Marine officer's buckle, from a SNLF, Special Naval landing Forces unit. Is this a rarely encountered buckle? Valuable? I hope I did not get ripped for $50.00. Many thanks! Ron

I don't know any Buckle or Japanese Militaria collectors on this site but you might go to WTG :: Index there are a few buckles experts overthere. Only-I don't know if they know anything about Japanese buckles or not but they do know their German and Russian stuff. Give 'em a try.
