So i've been playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion a lot lately, using the OOO-Mod. Currently playing as a Bosmer Assassin, currently a member of the Dark Brotherhood and a Knight of the White Stallion. I'm only Level 4 at the present time, and a recent spelunking expedition almost proved fatal. --- The first part of the cave was relatively simply, a few chests and a mudcrab or two. Then I saw what I mistook to be Wolves in a room. With my bow and steel arrows, I don't even need to sneak attack to kill such creatures with one shot. Much to my surprise, even in Sneak Attack Mode, my arrow did not kill this first 'Wolf' I attacked. Suddenly, the beast was upon me! One look at it close up was all I needed to know how wrong I was. Its fur was black, its eyes were red! It was a Shadow Hound! Much larger, more powerful, then any other wolf! It nearly killed me up close in combat! As I ventured further into the cave, I came across more of these Shadow Hounds. Their pelts would fetch a fair price at market, and I could use their meat to create potions of healing. Then I saw it...my next great test! An Ogre! Its size was impressive, towering over my short Bosmer height. Sneak Attack, while doing 3x Damage, did not come close to halving its health! I also knew I could not let it get close, and that I was quicker then it! It took nearly 8 Arrows to fell the foul creature and I was rewarded with Ogre Teeth to use in my alchemy lab! Having gathered more loot, including some impressive looking Mithril Armor, I decided I would head out of the cave and sell my goods before returning to finish it off. Rounding a corner in the cave, I stopped dead in my tracks. It appeared a tribe of Ogres had returned from the hunt! There were 6 of them, milling around in an area previously cleared of danger. I was trapped! My only option was to go deeper into the Cave and pray for an alternate means of escape! Venturing depper, my luck seemed to have left me altogether. Multiple Shadow Hounds and Ogres occupied a Cavern. Only with great skill and luck, using hit-and-run tactics, was I able to draw the faster moving Shadow Hounds away from the Ogres, dealing with them first, then feathering the Ogres with arrows in an area I would late call 'the Killing Grounds'. Further into the cave, I noticed an extremely large Ogre, clearly their leader. It took over a dozen arrows to bring him down, even when enchanted with flame! Finally, I moved deeper into the Cave, only to find there was only one way out. Using all the skills invested into me by the dark God Sithis, I managed to lure each Ogre to its death with out drawing them all onto me at the same time! I managed to escape with my life but was forced to leave a lot of loot behind. On another day, I think I will return to the Cave and finish off what I had started. But now, now I go to a dinner party where the Host will lock me and five of his guests inside the house, all in search of a Key to the Treasure Box. Only, these guests have done the Host wrong in the past, and I am there to kill them, one by one by one...there is also no money in the Treasure Box for them, but payment for me!
I love this game, I have it for PS3. I have done pretty much all I want, except I can't be bothered will spells, alchemy or the like. I'm just a Nord with a sword. One of the biggest mistakes I made was to kill the guy from the Dark Brotherhood so now I can never join. To be honest it served him right for being a murderus son of a b*tch.
Meh, why would you get it for the PS3? Console's limit games soooo much! For instance, the OOO-Mod is a complete overhaul of the game, adding more factions, caves/dungeons/forts, items, weapons and changes the leveling system too. Also allows you to bash open locked boxes too. Not to mention all the new quests etc.
I didn't think you could get it for PC until after I bought it. You see, I played it at a friend's house, and detecting my enthusiasm for the game and recognising me as mainly a PC gamer told me he didn't think you could get it for PC. Although I am being pressured to get Fallout 3 for PC, but after your description of that mod I might just buy a PC copy of Oblivion. EDIT- on looking on amazon Oblivion is also cheaper by about £5
Get the GOTY edition if you can (w/ Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine Expansion). Then google the OOO-Mod. Most games, especially RPG type games, are released for Consoles and PC's. Fallout 3 is similar to Oblivion - same company - just a post-apocalyptic feel and the continuation of another great game Franchise. I have Fallout 3 of course!
Hmm...the GOTY edition requires me to shell out an extra £10, but since I have the GOTY edition for PS3 I know it's worth it!
