Quite amusing - I've always found the hysteria whenever something explosive is found in the UK quite odd ( you know the sort of thing - 'Unexploded WWII grenade found - 10,000 people evacuated from their homes' ) when everyone cheerfully drives around with 20 gallons of petrol in a tin box under the back seat...
I find its civilians that usually go into one... I can remember having a replica mills bomb, from forces days..dont know how I got it..just did..the difference in tossing that into a barrack room and the difference in reaction when you chuck it into a bank comms room is electrifying...I grew up quick though when I left forces and found you cant do that sort of thing..No sense of humour... Today I'd probably have been shot...right too...Ere Martin..your one of these petrol hoarders then............Only thing in my boot and under my seats are books, that I cant get into the house..no room..
Actually - I drive a diesel. I remember using a deact Mills Bomb in a really boring sales training presentation once - livened things up a bit...
Now what would a load of German munitions be doing in a Warwickshire field? Reports of munitions found in the area,
Could be captured munitions brought back for evaluation and not properly disposed of. Or an unknown Auxunit training site?!
Honington Hall is very close by - I could be wrong, but somewhere in the cobwebby back of mind I've an idea this was an army camp in WWII ?
