General Sir Anthony Farrar-Hockley died in Oxford on 11th March.

He fought with the 6th Airborne Division in WWII and with the Gloucester Regiment in Korea. He later wrote a number of highly-regarded books about military history, including a classic account of The Somme and a worthy addition to the army of books about Arnhem, 'Airborne Carpet' in the Pan/Ballantine series.

A well known name in Airborne history passes away. Thanks for posting this, Martin.
