There was a major Dog fight above the Oise area in France . 22 fighters were shot down when P-38s Me-109s and FW-190s met each other in a terrible dog fight on August 25th 1944 between 1.40 pm and 2 pm.

Operation Bodenplatte took place on January 1 1945 and aimed to destroy as much allied airfields in Belgium and Holland as possible so the German troops could easily march on to Antwerp.
In As, Belgium above Airfield Y-29 there was a big dogfight between Americans and Germans. It's known as the Legend of Y-29 Asch.
In nearby Ophoven at airfield Y-32 Ophoven, where 2th TAF RAF was operating, the German attack damaged/destroyed 10 spitfires but there were no human losses. Y-29 was the home of the 366th Fighter Group of the 9th Tactical Air Force and the 352nd Fighter Group temporarily on loan to the 9th from the 8th Air Force. 366th FG flew P-47D thunderbolts and they got support from P-51 Mustangs from the 352nd FG. Past weekend we had a small exhibit on Y-32 Ophoven and this operation.

you might want to look into November 26, 1944. still an odd question with no meat to the bone, how about a date you are looking for, there are numerous incidents of overwhelming destruction of LW fighters by US fighters

Operation "Bodenplatte" (Baseplate) was pretty big; Jan 1, 1945, German fighters attacked allied airfields and a huge battle ensued that left 300 downed German fighters and more than 200 allied ones. That was the battle that annihilated the Luftwaffe as an effective fighting force.

Try search youtube's Dogfights! rerun. There's plenty there including the exploits of some of the finest American pilots. Completed with interview and diagram. Two battles I remember included one in which a lone T-bolt pilot was trapped in low altitude while the Bf-109s circled above in a wheel formation. And another when a P-51 ran straight into a Sturmbock of Fw-190s. Robin Olds and Anderson are both worth checking out.

The only problem I have with the series is its bombastically patriotic tongue. Only recently they are airing episodes where the German pilots were interviewed... I hope there are more of these to come.
