looking at a map of poland almost half of it is former german territory (as of 1914) and the redrawing of borders to the oder-neise line i feel was staggeringly harsh.

is it not time to redraw the borders of europe and correct this injustice ?

    In what way?

Instigate a war, kill a large number of a nation's population and destroy anything of value.

    Which is more staggeringly harsh?

Give back the old land, but in exchange 5,600,000 Germans have to go the same route as this group of Poles in 1939-1945.

Again, my question is why choose 1914? Germany wasn't even a coherent nation until 1870, so why not give the Poles the benefit of history and choose an earlier date when Poland was considered one of the great nations of Europe?

And, to what purpose would this change be made? To rectify a change made in 1919? That's nearly 100 years ago. How long does it take for someone to become assimilated into the dominant culture?

I think Jeff has a point about how this could even be accomplished. I see no solution short of another devastating war. I suggest rethinking this proposal.

Of all the repressed citizens of WW 2. Poland needs to redraw the map ?? The great peole of Poland were an ispiration to me from all the total hell they went through during and after WW 2. Never saw a more loyal determined country.

Upon the capture of Cassino Anders commented about his Polish Troops, " We don't even have a country to celibrate with us, or one top go home to". Untill Mr Wallensa and the ship buldiers drove the communist out, Poland suffered under the Russian tyrants untill finally free.

Kind of reminds me of the people of Okinawa trying to get the US out of there. Okinawa is sacred battle grounds, our sacred battle grounds. How about shut up and TRY to take it back !!

    My 2 cents.

    Best Regards,

The story of the Warsaw Uprising is probably the most destructive and incredible account of an intelligent, well organized armed rebellion I've ever read.

Ultimately, this thread is going to tread towards- Are ethnic groups tied to their land even as history continues its course?
