Wow that's a lot of pictures and quite an interesting site. So those are all original German photo albums?
I stumbled across it on another forum. The original guy that posted it didn't give details other than to say he didn't read Russian either? Maybe some forum member who is fluent can help us out..It would be great to know a little back story on them.

Thanks for the offer! I guess the home page link may give more desciption of what the site is all about? Can you give the general "idea" about what the site is all about? I noticed that in the soldier's albums, there were a lot of horses pictured. I wonder if these guys had a common calvary tie or something. It is a Ukrainian historical site. They do underline that they do not support idea of fascism, Nazism, or racism. However, they are interested in WWII history, specifically day to day life of a German soldier. The name of the club is 98 Mountain Regiment. I've scanned through the forum a little bit and seems that a lot of the members involved in archeology, digging up sites of big battles in Ukraine, Russia, and the Caucasus. I am guessing that is how they ended up with so many photo album. It is just amazing how good of condition those pictures and albums are.
This is a great find! I think the reason for the good condition of the albums is that they were probably captured and then sent to Soviet Army intelligence -- since they could reveal valuable information about German units, weapons and movements. These albums were probably stored in an archive for several decades, thus being well preserved for scanning now.
You might be right Sentinel but I seriously doubt "intelligence" archives would share pictures with some club in Ukraine. Unfortunately many Russian WWII archives still have pretty tight lead on them. I'll make a post on their forum and try to find out where they got the pictures.
It seems that these guys are collect pictures, trade, sell... They do the quality editing themselves. One guys told me that sometimes it could months to make the pictures look really good.
Hi Andy, he's seen it ;-)) Nice site. I only went through the first six albums and could tell they were all pre-and early war pics. Some great shots mixed in. I liked one that I saw that showed two Officers ready to "Duke" it out with eachother, as well as some nice MG-34 pics and at least one MG-42 pic. Also, a nice "posed" set of two photos of someones Regimental Commander, some nice PAK shots, a few good Trench shots, some other nice pics showing the Maginot Line, Paris, the Westwall and at least one nice pic showing the Siegfried Line. I saw an unusual pic showing a soldier with only one eye-im surprised he was still allowed to serve as a front area Soldier.
your right Carl, the albums contain some interesting photos to say the least, but ya there are a few vey good ones, i especially like the photos, showing them on the move, all the opel blitz trucks, motorbikes etc in convoy / resting
Hi Andy, I have a few pics like them ;-)) One in particular showes a long line of SdKfz 251s in a cloumn parked on some road. Two more show Grenadiers in two SdKfzs, and some other neat stuff ;-))
they sound great Carl, some day we may get a peek at them ------------------- oh ya, on a slighty different subject, i was able to get a "small" Luftwaffe fighter pilot's group (well part of it anyway, as the dealer decided to spit it up - greed of course......but he is holding back "part two" - so as of yet i dont know what it contains. but i managed to get his black wound badge (which also has the original packet) and several photo's of him with his men/friends when it arrives i'l post the pics, maybe you or the other guys might me able to help me identify him / awards etc
Hi Andy, im hoping that day will be sometime soon. Some Skipper already posted for me but these images still had the dealers name on them so are marred. However, when my local nearest W'M gets their machines fixed, im going ther and having more photo CDs made. When I finally get that done-let me know if your interested in a copy of them? I will probably in all-have 5-6 CDs made-just of photographs-and probably 2 more showing off much of my militaria. The only snag is-I don't had the knowledge on how to post these here or anywhere ;-)) yet. Brian is supposed to call me soon as sorta walk-me-through-it and ill have most of the images up on his and Franks site as well ;-))
