    Hello Wolfy,

have you ever been to North Korea?

I can tell you it is a very scenic country, rich in culture, fantastic food, very nice and less nice people like in any other country - just the government sucks IMO.

I don't think you are doing yourself or anyone else a favor with posting that kind of Country Grading List, at least you might give some indication in reagrds to your marking sceme or setup.

If one talks about the USA to me, Oklahoma springs into my mind and I really couldn't follow up on giving Okla. an "A".
Neither could I think of grading the province of Saarland in Germany with an "A" or even a D-, that place is just ......, and would never stand a comparrison with one of the most beautiful places in the world - the Loire river valley in France. The food (Skipper please forgive me) in France and Germany to me is the same both have there primes and lesser tastes.

So come on Wolfy, I believe you can do much better posts.

    Regards
    Kruska

One shouldn't be scolded for trying to start a converstation thread. Wolfy you forgot Canada! I'd give Canada an A. I think my father would disagree with your C+ rating for China. He hated it there, to the extreme. I agree on the North Korea rating, as you must rate them based on their government! Sadly though, I'd have to lower the US standing based on that. Besides, who wants to go to North Korea when the whole country is black and white? Thats what happens when you're so evil...you lose your color.

I gave North Korea a "F" based on its medieval government and on its low standard of living. There is actually a substantial height difference between North and South Koreans because the quality and quantity of food in the North is rather sparse.

I give China a C+ because of its cities, very strong economic growth, and general optimism. I am also Chinese and I speak the language...

    1. USA= A
    2. Canada= A-
    3. UK = B+
    4. Japan= B
    5. Taiwan= B-
    6. Germany=B-
    7. South Korea= B-
    8. France=B-
    9. Chile= C+
    10. China=C+
    11. Russia=D
    12. Rwanda=F
    13. North Korea= F
    14. Somalia= F

Why is the USA rated A? An abundance of material possession doesn't mean much in my book. Wealth is always the prelude to the corruption and degeneration of one's spirit and noble passions. It was through such degeneration that many empires of the past have met their doom, as unlikely as their power might have suggested.

I'd recommend that you grade countries based on their potential ability to wage a total war the like of which has not been seen in history. It'd be less ambiguous and more practical.

Lots of reasons. My favorite cities in the world are in the USA. Tremendous ethnic and cultural diversity, abundance of material wealth, superior standard of living compared to europe/asia, more professional opportunities and choices for one to lead their life, much less government interference in the private sector, etc.

Soon or late this is going to be another latrine thread. My experience tells me that a subjective "my country is better than yours" with the word "superior" cliché thread always ends up in offending someone ......
I will therefore close this before it heats up.
