You can call me Janelle, Jan, Jane...whatever floats your boat! 2. Age: I am 24 years old. I have been interested in WWII since I was about 15 years old. I am just starting to read and research more now that I am a bit older though. 3. Origins: I am from Long Island, New York. (Born and raised) 4. Specifics: I am truly interested in all areas of WWII. I am very excited to read real stories from WWII veterans and historians ect. My grandfather was with the Coast Guard in WWII on a boat called the Hemlock in Ketchikan, Alaska. Lucky for him he was safe from harm. The day I found a picture of his ship online and showed it to him was the day I decided I needed to learn more about WWII and the men that fought for our country. My grandpa was so happy to see a picture of the Hemlock he was so proud and from then on everytime I see him he has another story for me. I love hearing his stories and plan on passing them along to my children one day. 5. Hobbies: I am interested in many things. I love visiting historic sites and the Gold Coast Estates here on Long Island. I also love poking around in antique shops to kind of get a glimpse of the past. I am also an avid NY Ranger's fan and I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. 6. Other: I am interested in all war era history. I took a class on the Civil War this summer and learned many things I did not know. I plan on learning much more as time goes on. 7. Miscellaneous: I am currently pursuing my degree in History.
