Are you joking me?!?! F.Y.I, the 123 members of the Army Rangers and Dellta force on that patrol took 18 casualties fighting your so-called "skilled street fighters". How many Somalis did those 123 Rangers take out? OVER ONE THOUSAND. So tell me again, how marvelous and skilled those Somali streetfighters were, "firing without aiming"? .

Just a suggestion here friend, The Army Rangers have always displayed superlative valor and mettle in battle; from Pointe Du Hoc to Mogadishu they have proven what a small band of highly trained men can do in the face of overwhelming odds and superior numbers. Be it the SS or al qaeda the Rangers have met their objectives face on and always fought honorably, and I think it would be wise of you to respect them, as a lot of Veterans populate this board (myself included), and might not take your tone very kindly.

You guys just inspired me to watch it, ill get it tonight.

I realise though that in the mlitary world nothing ever goes according to plan, crude plan or not.

About the Syrian's comment on hip-firing: You should realise that any soldier with any sort of sense would not willingly hipfire at an enemy. They did guerilla tactics in a city where it would be hard to tell a fighter from a civvie. Somalis are not a group to be admired for what they did.

And you think this is a sign of an elite unit compared to just lucky shots?

If you think about it, the stats estimate the Somalia losses at around the 1000 mark right? Well think of how many that weren't killed or wounded who participated in that battle. Meaning that if they had double the militia then that killed and they were all firing, and they were only able to kill 18 of the enemy, I would say that is pretty bad. Now say there is 2000 militia and they all fired one clip, which is what 30 rounds, and they only hit 18 times, WOW. I think you would be surprised if they didnt hit anything.

Although I have seen something about certain troops are actually trained to fire from the hip and at the run and these men are incredible at doing that.

I write this sound in the knowledge you will surely not be on this forum very long if your ill informed posting continues. And on behalf of MORTMAN who was there and if still on this forum would tell you in no uncertein terms what the Rangers and the Delta force boys and the Nightstallkers did to your so called well trained Somalian fighters. and for Mike, RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

If you aim with Ak or do not the result will be the same thing and in the two cases you will not hit the target.:p

if the somalian make a similar movie. they will show them self a heroes and show the american a bad invaders so the problem here who is the right side .and who will determine that ? in the most of the american films they do not tell us what the other side is fighting for
and make the other side not human enough so they deserve to die. I think it is not fair

Warum sprischest du in Deutsch und English??

AnyWay Sorry for Messing with US Rangers ,Yeah They R Also very Skilled ,but not in Street Fighting in that Time!! (Their Skills is vs True Armies not vs a Militia like Aideed!!) and not only them like that ,but also all The Armies Around the World in The Past ,But I think now Things have been Changed and a Lot Of US&other Armies around The World R now Training Their Froces on Street Battles more than Classic Battle Between 2 Armies!!

No Insult 4 The US Rangers or USMC anway ,I'm just Saying What I've watched in Some Reportage=International Terrrorism-Somalia U can all Watch it & see the same thing that I saw!!

How is it a good point:confused: he had US Marines where there were US Army Rangers, he did not reflect the correct casualty figures and firing from the hip:rolleyes: Not to mention the desecretion of US soldiers dead bodies being dragged through the streets thats really civillsed I suppose. And pray tell just what were all the Somalian warlords fighting for;)

Well ,This Stuff didn't come from me ,I've Seen it in a Reportage = International Terrorism-Somalia!! and This Thing came out of one of The US Rangers!! I'm not lying!!
Anyway U can go 2 Youtube and see How Ak-47 is much Effective in Close Combats Than M4 or M16!! (Yeah I Know it's a Piece of **** in Long Range Clashes Specially When on Full-Auto Mode!!)
    Let's Talks in Physics 7.62x39mm = 1991 Joul
5.56x45mm = 1500 Joul as I Guess!! Ofcourse in Close Range not in Far ,Then The Ak's Bullet loses all of Its Energy!! Unlike M16's Bullet Not 2 Mention The Accurecy Decreasing in The Ak-47!!

the somalians did not invade america or Uk or spain or Iraq as I know ,and I think the director and writer did not visit somalia once and heard the story from the other side (it is a story from one side)
and this film was supported and financed by Pentagon if u do not know

in the other hand the country which created Ak-47 replaced it with more modern assault rifle from forty years ago

Really?Well give me some proof then!! I want to see links, names of magazines, books, whatever you have to back your "story" up. So far, all I've seen is you talking like you're trolling this forum.

What was his name? What unit was he with? Was he even in Somalia at the time of Operation Gothic Serpent??

    Oh, you want to get all technical about it? heres some simple math for you;

    #1
123 Army Rangers are involved in the operation, 18 are killed.

    #2
An unknown number of Somali rebels are involved in the battle, and over a thousand of them are killed.

Now, my math may be screwed up, because I only had a few years of college, but roughly, that means that on an average, every Ranger there had at least 8 confirmed kills.

Now, do the math with the somalis; and just with the ones who died mind you -we wont even count all the wounded, or the ones who couldnt get to the front fast enough- we'll assume that these 1000 dead somalis were the bravest and staunchest of Somali troopers, the "creme de la creme" if you will, skilled after many years of street fighting, right? Ok, that means that it took 55 somali troops to kill one Ranger. So again, how is it that the somalis are such good fighters? If they are so skilled, how come it took 55 of them to kill one Ranger? How many bullets is that anyway? Ok, a 30 round clip times 55 guys firing...AT ONE RANGER, thats 1,650 rounds!! So they needed maybe two rounds to kill him, so that means there were 1,648 stray bullets that hit nothing?? Yeah, you are right, those are fantastic troops!! LOL, what a knucklehead!!

Ever heard of United Nations Security Council Resolution 837?? Look it up, and do your homework before you come around here talking smack about my country.

At last someone responds with some facts that add up. I notice that the two nay sayers have not replied to my questions and have just come up with so called figures involving velocity and such, forgot about fire discipline and arcs of fire have we gents, as 28 rightly says (although in my words) those Somalians could not hit the side of a barn! and as for not invading the UK you should come to Bristol ther are Somalians everywhere:rolleyes:
