Now Russia has its own stealth jet bomber. They promise to have it here already this year and start producing it in series starting 2010.

They tell that the design of the plane is still kept secret and those sketches are the only clue that people have, but as it is known it would be a decent F-22 competitor.

    Hello Sloniksp,

nice paintings - let's see if Russia has the Rubels to acctually build them and how many?

In regards to stealth I actually prefer the German approach. We have a system that allows us to reach almost near stealth capabilities on standard modern aircraft such as the Eurofighter or even to a certain degree on the Tornado.

It is really a tough question to determine the absolutness of stealth and its costings in regards to its effectivness.

    Regards

The JSF is also very "stealthy", and much less costly than the suspended F-22 "Raptor" program. But I agree with Kruska, let's see if they can actually produce any of them. It was expensive military projects which bankrupt the former Soviet Union, and in retrospect probably did America in as well.

Ah well, seemed like "mastercarding" the USSR into oblivion was a good idea at the time.

I agree guys. I dont think Russia can afford such an aircraft.

What puzzles me as that Russia has always stayed away from Stealth because she has stated that its easier and cheaper to create a radar and missile which can shoot it down.

    Interesting to see what happens.

Throw a Rubel into one of it's engines, and it becomes an expensive pile of junk metal

They still have the Rubel! Green backs must have paid for that plane.
