Hi, just thought I'd answer the questions that were posed in the sticky. Would love to find out about my dad's shipmates from the war, and of course, learn more about the war itself. Thanks for reading!

    1.
Your Name: Whats your name? What would you like to be called? How did you come up with your member-name? My name is Lori. The member name I think sort of speaks for itself. My dad was on LCT 322 in the South Pacific during WWII.

    2. Age: How old are you? How long have you been interested in WWII? I generally only admit to 29 :p but here, I guess I'll come clean. I'm 43 and have been interested in WWII for the past decade or so. The stories my dad tells just seem so interesting, and I realize how ignorant I (and many others) really are about WWII.

    3. Origins: Where are you from? Northeast PA

    4. Specifics: What areas of WWII are you interested in? What would you like to know more about? I would love to hear any stories from guys that were in Flotilla 5, LCT 322 would be spectacular, during the later years of the war. Dad has wanted to find shipmates, but we've hit walls using the internet. Personally-I've always had a hard time thinking of WWII as one war. It just seems like Germany was one war and Japan was another. It's neat having it all mesh together.

    5. Hobbies: What sort of Hobbies do you have? Are any related to World War II? Wargaming? Video-games? Memorabilia? Visiting historic sites? I like biking and brazilian jui jitsu as my favorites. I also recently got into photography, so that is fun. Astronomy, hiking are some others. None are really WWII related. I do like hiking in places where I can gain an education from the past.

    6. Other: What other time periods are you interested in? Specific eras? Why? None really. I do like the Civil War period, but I have to say WWII is my favorite to learn about...probably because it's participants are still alive.

    7. Miscellaneous: Anything else you'd like to share with us? Nothing I can think of off hand. I"m an Amatuer Radio operator..call sign N3LMA-though I think the internet all but killed that hobby for me. I'd love to find some pics of LCT 322. I've searched all over but came up short. Dad talks about it all the time. Just want to see what others are saying about their experiences. Maybe I'll even get him on here...he's quite internet savvy for an 83 yo.

    EDIT:
I have no idea how I forgot this...I guess it simply pales in comparison relative to who is on this forum. I'm an US Air Force Vet, and in addition spent about 4 years in the Army Reserves. I missed both Middle East wars however. My brother is retired Army, and another brother was drafted for Vietnam.

Some more info.... My uncle went down on the USS Pompano, Peter Rivotsky (spelled phonetically, lol)

I have, thank you. In fact...your name looks somewhat familiar...I think I've emailed you with a few questions (which you answered promptly) :)

I took dad to DC last year to see the plaque and the museum. Turns out one of the volunteers was on an LCT so dad had a great time talking with him.

    Thanks guys.

Howdy Lori, 29 sounds like a good age. That is how old I am and have been for about 17 years.

Please tell us about your father. If you can talk him into giving you a history of his service, you may post in the forum. We would like to hear what he did.

I'll do that, in fact I might send him the link to this site so he can take a gander at it. I'm at his house for a few days, so I'll get a narration from him and type it in

I think I'm going to have to learn how to use photoshop...lol. I've found many numbers around 322...just can't get that one...but you never know.

    Thanks for the link.

I tried to make a thread in the "Service" forum (that seemed ike the appropriate place), but was unable to do so. He just dictated some stuff to me...and I have some pics to post. Is there any other forum I can access to post the info?

I can't imagine why it wouldn't work. Just go into the Service forum, click on New Thread, give it a title, then start typing in the box. It should work the same for any of the categories. Let us know if you have any further troubles, we're anxious to read his remembrances.

Just tried it again, from a different computer and got the same message as before. I've tried several of the other sub forums and I can make a new thread...just not this one... hmmm
