Since as it looks likely that the CONVICTED lockerbie bomber may be released or sent back to libya as he too is ill.. The powers that be would have a little explaining to do on the apparant hypocracy.. And jack straws recent words on biggs would put his owm hypocracy in the spotlight.

While you may have a point about the Lockerbie bomber, I wouldn't waste your sympathy on Biggs. He was a violent scumbag who's totally unrepentant about his crime and the fact it lead to an early death for the train driver he hit with an iron bar.

I dont red., i do though have a problem with politicians who think they can pick and choose who the law should treat differently for their own means and think we are too thick to notice.

I remember when Ronnie was appealing for sympathy with "I just want to have a pint of bitter"

If he had done his time, he could have had his bitter by now.

Instead he went on to complain about the pains of cosmetic surgery.

So after a lifw of playing with punkrock bands and banging brazillian babes, whilst his family is in tatters... Oh my heart bleeds for you mate.

Too true jaeger.. But im reading and hearing so much on biggs hitting the driver.. 1. Biggs was never charged with that was he? 2. The press keep telling us how the driver died years later because of ill health caused by this and ignore he died from leukimia with post mortem ruling his earlier attack out as any reason.. Im all for hanging by thumbs me.. But id like the right guy done and not another let him have it bentley episode.. Tommy wisbey a heavy was hired specifically to intimidate the train crew.

I thought from memory that it was him, but on looking it up it appears the identity of the thug who attacked the train driver is uncertain, but it doesn't change my view of him. The only reason he came back was to obtain free medical treatment as his health was failing and he was broke.

Makes my point exactly., i d feel same as drivers family if it was me.. Im still not falling for media trot though.. They have more recent pics than that... They still ignore the post mortem on train driver. Son says he hopes to have him in a private nursing home and paper changes this to getting him out implying a great time ahead.. Dont worry he will be dead shortly according to jack straw. And no as he has stated he regrets the driver injury.. He has said if he says he regrets the rest then his son would not have been born.. And ill never say it for that one reason or words to that effect. The papers generally miss the whole quote. Im not defending him im just interested in the press on this one and how they are whipping up the masses on half truths..

Biggs was a minor player in the whole thing, and it was his continued avoidance of his sentence which gave him his celebrity status. Most of us would struggle to name more than a couple of the crooks involved.

The oddest part for me is how well dodgy crims like him used to do from the coverage, which used to verge on the folk hero angle. It's a really odd trait of us Brits, I remember similar for the Krays, the Richardsons, Mad Frankie Fraser, etc. Ugly thugs one and all.

As for poor old Jack Mills, we'll never know what he was struck with nor by whom DI Williams did an investigation of that incident along and got it down to two members, very possibly Buster Edwards. Lack of evidence prevented any prosecution. Poor bugger was in his fifties when it happened, never worked again, and suffered greatly as a result of his injuries. My sympathies lie with him and his family, especially when you consider he must have done something for us in the war, even if it was just the res. occ. of train driving it was vital and often very bravely so.

I do believe he should be release on health grounds which has now happen after the on going cock ups by are pathetic government. I also feel no books should be written about him after his death but as we all know this will not be the case, so I think his family should not get any royalties from any books. I'm not sticking up for Mr Biggs who clearly has got away with it, that of showing no remorse for what he did.

Personally I would have not let him back in the country and told him to sod off.

    'Fraid so
Let me make this absolutly clear, we could never
    surely
    not in a million years
    merrily and willfully.......................................................................................................................................................................................
