I saw the new GI Joe movie today. My son and I both enjoyed it. A lot of it was predictable but the concepts were a lot of fun and there were enough surprises to make it entertaining. If you are looking for a bit of an escape, you should consider it.

Of course, I went to a 10am showing and only had to pay $6 per ticket. At full price I would have been a bit more critical!

Is this GI Joe movie more like the original Comicbook that came out in the late 70s early 80s? Or is it something vastly different?

Carl I never read the comic books I was an 80s kid so the cartoon really is all i know, im sure the movie took some liberties in the movie there is a strong history with both duke and baroness, and snake eyes and storm shadow

Carl - I've never seen a GI Joe comic or the cartoon so I have no frame of reference for comparison. Sorry!

Hi FG, David, thank you both.

If I remember-the comicbook had more of a Military type flair to it. I remember most or all of the original set of characters wore military type uniforms except for Snake Eyes. I remember they went up against Cobra-who had red and blue uniforms. I read the comic for about a year then quit collecting them for some reason? I guess to keep spending my mone on Sgt Rock, Sgt Fury, GI Combat, The Losers, Scalphunter, The Unknown Soldier, Jonah Hex and a few other titles.

I remember being at a friends house who watched the cartoon in the early afternoons after school let out. I might have watched parts of a few but don't really remember them.

It sounds interesting to say the least and i'll give it a viewing when it comes to DvD.

Yea the outfits Carl they completely changed, they do this whenever there is a film adaption of a comic book or tv series. X-Men changed the outfits, Gi Joe they changed the outfits Daredevil they changed., theres others they just try to when they modernize the stories the costumes unfortunatly are changed too, but x mens costumes from the 80s film wise i dont think would have worked, gi joe i think would have so its upsetting that was changed

Hi FG, thanks for all the info. It figures that they would change many things. I think certain things need to be left alone. As well, I guess I could always but some Justice League and Batman Animation as well as the new and first Green Lantern Animated movie that I came so close to buying this evening. On that one-at least they used the Silver Age Green Lantern--Hal Jordan. This one ought to be good. I forget who all is voicing characters but one of them was John Larroquette of Night Court fame.
