Im currently having bought and are trying to get a few series of good photos only for this forum.

Thesee photos include: For sure a nice Panzer photo somewhere in France going through a village. A Kriegsmarine Infantry photo outside the Bremerhaven Kaserne (also the only Marine Infantry photo I have so far). Some good Afrika Korps photos, 2 sets of a total of appx 25-30 Gebirgsjager photos, a few more Panzer photos, a nice set of about 20 Luftwaffe photos with negatives! and possibly some eisenbahnartillerie photos. I already have sent by email to Otto, a very nice shot of German soldiers in a motorcade going through a German city. Whats special about this photo is that you can clearly see a divisional unit insignia, and also for the Europeans here--a nice Castle in the backround.

Im doing my best to get some interesting non RKT photos for this forum. Also, im looking for theme ideas--so please let me know if you want me to try to get photos of certain units--or in certain places. Im finding more and more sources for GOOD photos these days, and I want nothing but the best for this forum. I refuse to send Otto run-of-the-mill photos to post here. You know the kind--mainly studio or posed photos.

Im spending a LOT of money here so please let me know what you think? :D

    Hey Carl,

where do you get your pictures from? Is Otto going to make a pictures section of the ww2network? If so i could try and find pictures too...but i'm not sure of the quality i need?

Hello Ron, I get most of mine from dealers in Europe--or on ebay. I used to buy run-of-the-mill junk which rarely had anything interesting in them--mainly posed shots --or something rather boring. My photo-collection had gotten much much better over the last year or so--and I have been getting Heinrich Hoffmann originals/Propagande Kompaine press photos--more but better originals.

Your best bet for some nice photos if to go to: www.ebay.de go to sameln and seltines then go to the photograph section. I have gotten some nice photos from there. I also collect ww1 German photos--mainly just posed shots but recently, I got an original photo of the Kaiser wering a Guard du Korps uniform, and was reviewing a Guard du Korps unit.

If I could just force myself to quit collecting militaria for awhile--I could buy more photos, BUT--I just cant stop collecting--its like I need my weekly or bi-monthly militaria fix.

Right now, I am hoping to get word from my source in Sweden--on more Heinrich Hoffmann photos.

Also, if you want to start collecting original German ww2 photos--go to www.ebay.com and look for auctions from "27kills" His name is Joe Imwalle, from Santa rosa, California--and he always has some interesting photos for sale. Also, I just more recently saw that he won some auctions on ebay.de, and many of the photos were nice onew with interesting things.

Occasionally, one of my favorite dealers in Germany will sell original Knights Cross recipient photos and Heinrich Hoffamnn photos--he is Detlev Niemann of Hamburg.

Hope this gives you some ideas where to look. [IMG]

Gluk Ab, as they say in German. Also, I do not want to risk bidding against someone I know so, let me know what your bidder name will be (in private) so I do not bid on something you have an interest in. Believe me--there is plenty for all--so I will not be dissappointed in losing a few photos. ;)

    Carl :

With all these expensive aquisitions I am wondering where all this is going ? Individual military photo forums ?.......Heer, Kriegsmarine, W-SS, Luftwaffe......etc > Post a pic and guess who the personell are, or the Panzer, ship or a./c ? I am curious and hopeful that these have not been copyrighted elsewhere or this could get very sticky. Even an e-bay.com or e-bay.de does not guarantee an original non-published photo in any case even if listed as such. I've seen enough bogus materials that I almost shy away from e-bay right now and only look for certain out of print books.

    Guys,

Like I said before, in another forum here; I've got around 1100 origional WWII Pictures. I have one RAD album, one album from a soldat stationed on a channel island, one album from a Second Panzer Division memeber (also who is featured in the RAD album), one origional album following an artillery division through France (official OKW release), and two misc. albums.

If you're interested in pictures let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if I have it in my collection. Just an FYI though, most of my pics are from the early war up until the beginning of Babarossa.

Erich--not to worry. Most of these are loose singles from collections and unfortunately--albums that were split up for some jerk to make more of a profit.

I have 1 photo that I can identify as being of men in the 21st Inf Div, serving in Russia. I also have others that had i had time--I could find out where they were or when and which unit. For instance--the soon to be in my hands photo of the German motorized column (with unit insignia) and Schloss in the background, shouldnt be too hard to ID--if I could just get the time for it.

Anyway--I admit I know almost zilch about copyrights on photos--cept if you have some that are copyrighted--then you need permission from the owners.

    Now the sticky part...

    My Heinrich Hoffmann originals.

Ive been told by a lawyer (sic) that if one has something that once was property to an organization--that the organization still has certain rights to that item--even if you own that item. But in the case of a defunct organization (like the German Wehrmacht in ww2) they would have no rights to the content of any of your materials.

So what I gather is: that since the Wehrmacht hasnt existed for appx 57 years--that there shouldnt be any problems in displaying the photos here. On stuff I know is one of a kind--like my ww1 Guard Du Korps photo with the Kaiser in a Du Korps uniform. The photo is a standard photo as taken be a soldier in the field. As this photo had never been published, and was taken by this person--of course not named nor is anything identified in the photo or on it. I know there is a copyright limit--I just dont know how long the limits are--I think possibly 50 years??

Once that is up--there is no legal problem--unless the photo copyright has been renewed before the 50 year period is up.

Now, to show my lack of knowledge on these things: I should think that most of these photos for sure--if not all, were most likely never copyrighted in the first place--like the individual photos taken from collection and or albums.

I think as long as I do not make money on any photo that is copyrighted--there isnt a legal problem--unless the owner of the copyright tells me to remove the photo.

As with the RKT photos--they all know I will have them online and I do have permission to have them there.

Ive had photos posted on the Wehrmacht awards forums without problems. Everyone posts them there anyway. Here, these photos will be just to make things a bit more enjoyable.

I havent thought of having certain themes tfor photo sections--except for the RKT photo section.

I would have to let Otto handle what would go where. There are 4 photos that I have which are originals that I own that I do not know if they are copyrighted or not. These photos have all been published in books (like my Hptm Peter Kiesgen) Hitler Youth "Wherwolf photo. Ive seen it published in aone book, but no info of copyrights to this photo--info on most of the others used in the book.

Sorry for the long-winded answer. This alone proves that I am no expert in this matter. All I know is that there is no way for anyone to check and see if my Kaiser Guard Du Korps photo, or one like my 21st inf Div photo are copyrighted. These were small personal photos, and the only way I can see in having them checked out, is if the original owner(s) come forward and tell me.

The U 181 photos (all copies) :( , I do have exclusive rights to have them posted here--by the vets themselves--so no problem in that area :D

What do you think?  [IMG]

    Carl, that's dandy !

Well we will just have to wait for Otto's return and see what he posts. Still think somesort of photo forum of course not the size of what we have here, but something under the headers that I mentioned of different service.

That sounds like a workable idea, and sounds great to me. Problem though, is that I have very few Waffen SS photos--maybe up to 7? Two are combat photos, and one of the two combat fotos is a VERY rare foto of SS Heimwehr Danzig.

Mostly though--I have some nice Kriegsmarine--specially with U 181, and im getting better with the Luftwaffe and the Heer. BTW--I just won a nice Heer Artillerie, combat foto? I lost out by someone who sniped me on 10 fotos of Gebirgs Regiment 100
