Though not here but on Ebay, Sniper is one of two usernames I use over there. Actually, Sniper isn't just the full username but also has soemthing vaguely to do with a famous German Sniper-care to guess which one? ;-D
I have never used sniper in any of my Alias' before as I found to it be to dramatic and because I always hear so many people use the word "Headshot" and "Own". I find the idea of being a sniper to emotional as you actually see the person you kill and they arent simply some faceless evil that you would see as you hose men down with an MG. Nothing wrong with the name though.
Good try but-still wrong ;-)) I'll spare you the suspense and tell you that im using part of Sepp Allerbergers name. It's ben awhile since I last used that account so I don't know if it's still valid or not but, my ebay username in this case-was Sniper_Sepp1945. The 1945 part is the year he got his Knights Cross-even though he is not listed in Fellgiebels book and apparently is not acknowledged by the O.d.R to be an legit RKT.
Carlos Hathcock, USMC during Vietnam, is legendary for (among other things) setting a world record (longest range confirmed kill, stood for 40 years), shooting and killing an enemy sniper through the scope and crawling through 1000 yards of heavily defended enemy territory to eliminate a Viet Cong general on one of his first missions.
Jack, your posts always give me the chills. It's hard for me to imagine being in your position (or the position of any of the vets). (Oh, and by the way, our half birthday recently passed. So, Happy Half-birthday.)
Both Carlos Hathcock and Finnish Sniper Simo Hayha (SP?) are both legendary. Also, im with you Ray, what Jack says certainly is chilling. I guess that for things like that, im guessing is why my Uncle who also serve in the Pacific-never wanted to talk about it. My hat is off to Jack for his service and experiances.
My mistake for not expanding on what I meant, thank you for correcting me. I try to use my words carfully as I seem to offend people without trying to. I am well aware that any infantry man had it the hardest of all ground pounders.
It's interesting to see the title or goal of a thread, then the wind comes and takes it somewhere special. Thanks for the feedback Jack.... and as always, my fellow rogues. Well done
