This is my first attempt at any kind of artillery or mounted gun type model. I wanted something quick and easy...this is still a WIP though. Got some weathering to do still and I may be tempted to construct a small base for it. We'll see. For now, enjoy these pics:
Beautiful rendition cd. did the Tamiya kit come with alternative shields or no ? how about figures though will assume they need to be purchased. Interesting that the muzzle ends look late war KM issue unit E ~
Thank you for the kind words guys! Erich, there are shields included but I'm gonna attach them at the end. I should have included some shots of them separately with weathering...I will get those up soon. There is also a trailer and wheels...I'm working on those currently...salt weathering at the moment...more WIP pics to come soon. Thanks for looking!
very good cd13,will be nice once weathered paintwork is applied, perhaps you should think about some 1/35th figures for it,ray..
Some further progress over the weekend...these first shots are construction of the base and pre-paint setup: Here is a close up of some battle damage on the gun shields and some additional painting on the base: Enjoy!
Thank you both for the kind words. I finished up last night....will post final shots hopefully tonight.
nice diorama, some figures would bring it to life, try s&t 1/35 scale a wide range to choose from cd13...
Awesome model! My father's unit came under quad 20mm fire in Brittany in August 1944 as this baby was leveled to fire at ground personnel. I have read of similar tactics employed in Italy and the Russian front. Does anyone know the first time a German 20mm AAA gun was used against ground targets? Being fired on by an MG-42 is bad enough, but 20mm fire must have been extremely scarey. Greg C.
Agreed - I would not want to be on the receiving end of one of these leveled at me. I can't even imagine how scary that was. Thank you for sharing it, though and also for the kind words on my model.
That's a very sweet model of an AA gun there. Also I think it's totally original! It's not every day you see models of AA weapons. Fantastic and also really impressive!
Wow, catsandcradles, thank you for the kind words. There are a few very nice artillery pieces here on the forum you should check out if you can. They are all very well done and make mine look amateurish by comparison. Thank you for checking it out!
