Been having the same problems the last few weeks. Even today I had problems connecting to the site. Tried other browsers (Firefox, Chrome), clearing cache, flushing dns. Now I made an entry for ww2f.com in my hosts file and it seems to work from the first try.
Constant problems for me - roughly 75 % of attempts are abortive. Tried on IE and Firefox, various PCs and laptops, different firewalls etc etc - nothing made a difference. Very odd - seems to be the onl site where I have this problem. C'est la vie
I've tried a number of variations but, it seems locally that I can only manage to regularly, and easily, get in between about 6 am and 2 pm daily. Every now and then I can manage to get in at other times but, some of these prove abortive after intially getting the board. Yesterday for example I got on just before two. But, when I tried posting a reply to a thread it kicked me off entirely and I lost the reply in the process. Weird.
It seems to be DNS related. I used the following link as a how to edit hosts file: How do I change my hosts file? Or, how can I see my domain before DNS changes propagate? I put the following line in the file: 75.127.98.38 www.ww2f.com I was having the exact same issues as you guys, but the solution I described earlier seems to have fixed it.
I'm STILL having problems accessing the Forum. It seems to be time related; I can get on late in the evening like after midnight and sometimes early in the morning, but during the day it's usually impossible. I'm using Mozilla Firefox and have tried all of the remedies suggested, but it doesn't seem to have had any effect,
I am a brand-new member and for the life of me I cannot find where to post my query!!! Can anyone help???????
Same here....most of last week I couldn't get on. I'm resigned to it now - if I can't get on, I just leave it......
I have the same problems both here and on ww2talk for a long time now, pain in the butt when your wanting to follow a post as i sometimes have to wait a few days untill i get on again,,but the plus side is when i do get on theirs lots of new posts to look through.
I always find this thread amazing. I have never experienced a problem getting on the site (other than when the original server went down.) Every once in a while, I get a slight (a second or two) delay in the screen moving up or down when I follow a thread, but I suspect that has more to do with my computer. As always, I'm confused.
I have the same problems on both sites. I wonder if Otto has had a chance to talk with the service provider to get the solution that Slipdigit mentioned implemented?
I've also had this problem, its been happening since I've joined. I can only access the website during mornings or evenings, the rest of the day it seems to be down.
I've talked with Otto again this evening about this vexing issue. He has been in contact with the hosting company but they disagree with the basic premise that there is even a problem and if it is, it not an issue with them. But I digress.
As with DA and Clark for me, been this way since the change, very early in the morn and then around 4.45 pm onward. during the day...........forget it. ah well .............
Well, I consider it a problem. I'm pretty busy these days, and don't have the time or inclination to bother with a forum that only allows me intermittent access. As much as I enjoy this board, my tendency is to follow, and post more frequently on, forums that don't limit my ability to access them. Whatever the technical genesis of the problem, it seems to have developed about the time the new "improved" server came online.
My basic assumption (basic being I'm probably talking out of my Asp) is this. I get up relatively early...between 300-430 in the morning. I cannot get on this page, any day, before 6am. You could almost set a clock by it. Which would be redundant because I have a clock or I wouldn't know this...but whatever. During the weekedays I'm not home but figure it's the same as weekends which is very spotty access sometimes several refreshed get it...I have noticed a significant improvement since I switched to Firefox, but I think the new server has over stretched their available bandwidth and the majority of their clients are on the west coast, therefore the power suck for those folks on that side. THis is my opinion. Getting up that early gives me a lot of time to mull things as I sit alone in the dark.
The problem has been noted and we are working to remedy the problem. By "We" I mean Otto and Slipdigit, of course!
