Appreciate you posting the pics, etc. I get so angry when I look at those, however.

Same here. I remember waking a bit late that morning and had switched on the TV which was on the TV Land channel-so I could watch Hogans Heroes. They had a newsticker running at the bottom of the screen and I read that an airplane had crashed into onf of the WTCs towaers. I switched to various news channels to see what went on? and after being mesmerized for about an hour, I had to get ready to drive to work.

After hearing about the hijackings, I was so damned angry that I felt liks calling in sick-from work. Anyway, I went downstairs and everbody was glued to the News. It was then that I saw the second plane hit-on live TV-and that more than made my blood boil.

I left for work and took about 25 minutes to get there-all the while I was listening to News Radio. I got there only to be sent home as work was cancelled for the day. I went to the library instead and they had TV sets on the counters so that we all could keep getting news. I went to a computer and got onto a Militaria site-and you should have seen the reaction there. If anyone thinks I can go beserk--well, im a very mild comparison to some of the things I read there-not only from Amis, but Brits and many other folks world-wide.

I stayed there for a few hours then laft. I didn't get back home till about 3 AM. Drove around all day listening to the sad news.

Those murdered on that day, will never be forgotten about. May they all (speaking ONLY of those murdered) be resting in peace.

When this originally came on the news here in MT., I first thought that; "Oh no! One of these new computer flown aircraft has gone bonkers and flown into the towers just like that twin engined bomber flew into the Empire State Building back in the forties."

I truely was thinking it was probably some sort of "accident" until the second one hit about 45 minutes later. Then I just sat there and watched the tube, shaking my head and wondering "what next".

Terrible day, even remembering it brings a lump to my throat recalling the "jumpers", the firefighters and policemen running toward the towers, and the looks of disbelief on the populace.

I did not get to see those images until about 1am on the night of September 11, 2001. I had been flying to Chicago on an American Airlines flight and we landed shortly after the attacks. They kept us on the Tarmac for two hours and finally allowed us to deplane. The pilot finally allowed the use of cell phones about half an hour before they let us off the jet but all we knew was that the USA had been attacked. I borrowed a phone and had my Dad drive 90 miles to get my wife and kids and bring them to my parents house.

I then was fortunate enough to get a rental car when almost everyone else was turned away. The car company wanted cars in Florida since so many travelers were stranded. I then drove from Chicago to Orlando in about28 hours with a 4 hour stop in Kentucky to sleep. It was in the hotel lobby that I finally saw the images. They have stayed with me ever since, especially since I was in the air while all of that was happening.

That day, I saw beautiful farm country in Indiana, especially an amazing sea of wheat with an American flag flying proudly, but forlornly, at half mast in the middle of it. I saw rolling woodlands in Kentucky. I saw Indianapolis and Atlanta and other great cities. I saw a wonderful country that was stung but I knew that everything would be set right.

The USA is a strong country and, despite our many differences, we are a remarkably united people when things really matter. America may have enemies, but I know that those enemies have lost any fight with us before they even begin it. I think they know it as well.

I remember being at school in the computer lab (early morning) and a kid told me that the twin-towers were burning. I thought he was joking, but then the school got called to morning meeting and the Headmaster told us what had happened and sent us all home. You could see the smoke from the top of the hills around my school. One of the teachers lost her husband in the attack. I remember getting home in time to watch the news for about an hour or so before the first tower fell.

My neighbor was an AA Pilot at the time and it was her flight that went down. She did the New York - San Fran run (I think it was) but since Sept. 11 was her oldest sons birthday, she had switched flights so that she would be home for his birthday, instead of flying out. Her kid was old enough to know what was going on and nearly passed out when he heard about the attacks since he knew it was his mothers flight. Luckily for the both of them, she had switched flights (so had flown West Coast to East Coast the night before).

My Dads office at the time was the next building over, but he had a meeting elsewhere in the City that day so wasn't in the area when everything went down the drain. He said it was weird to look out his office window afterward to see nothing but a gaping hole where the Towers were.

Every trip into the City I had ever taken, we always came into the City through the World Trade Tower subway stop. Its still wierd not having those towers there anymore.

    Crazy stuff, all of it.

The first I heard was from the intercom at the gas station and the kid said : "They're selling Jumbo Jacks at the Pentagon". When I went inside to pay he told me what he really said. I told him he was full of Sh*t.

I still get choked up thinking about it.

I was in my Grade 10 computer tech class at the time of the attacks. My teacher was in the middle of a lecture, when another staff member came in an whispered in his ear. The teacher's face had a mix of suprise and shock. He informed us of what had happened in New York and Washington. The class spent the rest of the morning reading the reports filtering into the websites of various news agencies. A TV was set up in our library for anyone to watch the latest breaking news. It was still there a week after the attacks.

About a year ago I listened to a telephone call made by Kevin Cosgrove, the Vice President of Aon corporation who was trapped on the 105th floor of Tower 2 (South) after the plane struck. It was chilling and heartbreaking at the same time. I didn't get much sleep after hearing that audio clip, And since then I just cannot bring myself to listen to it.

    No argument here.

Remembrance and reflection how allied. What thin partitions divides sense from thought.

Like everyone else, I was stuck to the TV on the 11th. On the 12th, I decided I needed to head home, being we didn't know the state of the world. I left Knoxville about 9am and headed north. On a whim I decided I should hit my brothers house in Indiana, so I went a way I had never done before and went through Indianapolis...it was the strangest thing...went past the airport and there were at least 100 planes sitting there, not another car on the expressway. A big bed sheet hanging over an overpass "GOD BLESS THE USA".
    Epic.

I remember it as seeing clips from it on the TV, I was young so I didnt know what was going on. Curse those cowards who think killing innocent people helps their situation.

Rest in peace men and women, you will not soon be forgotten.

I actually didn't hear about it until very late in the afternoon. I was in 4th grade playing catch with a counselor at my after school program behind the school. A kid a year or two older than me came over and very casually said the towers fell and my counselors only response was to whistle and say wow...later my dad picked me up and together with my mom attempted to explain what happened to a 9 year old...not a fun experience I assume :(

My family had a tripped planned to go to NYC in October 2001 before 9/11 and when we went the rubble was literally still smoldering. I just visited NYC a fews weeks ago again and went to ground zero. Honestly, at this point it isn't much to look at, its pretty much just a big construction site. The drawings however look amazing. Do check it out here: National September 11 Memorial & Museum :

You can also go visit the museum which is quite powerful. They actually have a piece of the tower, an airplane window, and various other artifacts. It is a bit tricky to find though. Highly recommended if you visit.

My heart goes out to all those affected in any way by the events. May those who died be at peace and those alive be comforted.

I was 5, but I can still remember the day. I had no clue what was going on, I wasn't angry, I just hadn't an idea the severity of the situation. In retrospect I can't say that I wish I did.

    Today I saw an eagle,
With a teardrop in his eye.
It literally took my breath away,
    To see an eagle cry.
    I asked him,What’s the matter?,
And he told me what he saw.
    A cowardly attack was made,
On the towers that once stood tall.
He said everything he stood for,
    Had taken a shocking blow.
So he had to take a moment,
To let his own emotions show.
    Then he proudly told me,
    That our Nation would survive.
    That our Liberty and Freedom,
He’d be sure to keep alive.
He said for us not to be afraid,
    To stand together, not apart.
    For a terrorist has succeeded,
If he puts fear within our hearts.

I was in my first semester of college, I was getting dressed for school, had breakfast and i went downstairs to wait for my dad to bring me to class and i watched as the 2nd plane had gone right into the tower..

I lived on long island and being not that far away from nyc it is a scary feeling, most of my family lives in the city, or in nassau county relatively close, and not being able to get in touch with my family members that day was really nerve racking.

I feel so bad for the family members still over their loss, and the lack of resolution to what happened. 8 years pass new york gets 2 new baseball stadiums but there is still a hole in the ground where the towers once stood, thats no memorial to no man. It's sad that everything when you boil down to it is just about the dollar, making the most money possible even in the aftermath of a horrific event.

Me and my family we went to the city afterwards a few weeks just to really see first view, and while yea theres always tons of kiosks on the streets or street venders if you want to call them that, but not one were selling anything but twin towers items, to get that quick buck and cash in on the event, everyone from the top to the damn street venders were making money on this.

2 New baseball stadiums and the mets still suck!

It gets me sad and angry thinking about the event, New York City and New York really to me is just so many bad memories and mismanagement/misjudgemnet, I lived there for the first 24 years of my life and now im moving back in 10 days there, but i still not despise the state but i feel bad for every person who has to deal with broken promises, corruption, the same ol' we'll get it done but it never gets done attitude of new york. I still cant believe its a hole in the ground after 8 years.

Ill never forget those images that showed those poor people leaping out of windows. Two that greatly effected me the most were-one showed some Gentleman who leaped out of the window-God knows how many stories up? and he didn't flail his arms or anything and basically took a nose-dive all the way down. Another showed a couple: Man and Woman, who were holding hands as they jumped to their deaths because of the inferno that their offices had become. :-((
