Hi, my name is Will and I'm an ADDICT (To all things armored) Well, first of all, I surprised myself at never coming across this community before. I have been hard at work for a few years, trying to develop a comprehensive work on U.S. military vehicles of all kinds from 1930-1945. Yes, I am aware of the hundreds if not thousands of books, websites and moving media already dedicated to such a subject. However, it is fun, it keeps me out of trouble, and it is coming along quite well. It has actually morphed into more than 1,000 pages and more than 180 sources and references. If anyone has any questions on American vehicles, I will always be happy to add my two cents. I have already spent a couple of days reading through the forums, and have even ventured back to the year 2000 in the "WWII Weapons" forum. Quite a good number of educated folks here, and I look forward to spending some quality time learning all I can and hopefully adding something useful from time to time. So, thank you to all for giving me a chance to make the most of this remarkable resource. -Will

Also, and perhaps a stupid question: Why am I unable to use the small toobar above the text window when posting, and how do I choose smilies, etc? It seems I am unable to click on them with the pointer!!!

    Will,

Actually, it's a great question... instead of using the quick reply box at the bottom of the screen, click on any quote button on the bottom right hand portion of the post to bring up a new box with improved options - plus, it gives you the opportunity to respond to someones elses post! ie. smilies to the right, paperclip near the top to add pics, and font/size changes! hope this helps :D

    Howdy Will,

There are some fairly knowledgeable guys here. Look up Von Poop, he can talk axle grease and count rivets with you.

I just think that perhaps my ANCIENT computer (bought surplus from NORAD in 1946) might not have Javascript or something. In other words, when I position my pointer to, say, change my font, make something bold, choose smilies, etc., nothing works. Its as if its just a background or something. Make sense? Perhaps I am doing something wrong. UUUUUUGH!!!
But thanks to all of you for the welcomes!!! Hope I dont turn out to be a 5-post ghost!

    Will,

I never wanna leave a man down, but this one's got me pinned! There are plenty of rogues who fancy technology around here... you are not alone. Maybe they'll see your stress signal and send HELP. Sorry I couldn't be of more service

    Good luck 377,

    Jem

Will -- Welcome to this fine place. I usually tell new recruits that there are a lot of fine folk here but you seem to have discovered that already!

    Cheers!

This problem I seem to have had? Well it fixed itself, as most problems with this computer seem to do. Is a conspiracy  Thanks for all the warm welcomes!!!

Hello Will. Glad your computer is self-repairing. Can it teach mine to be that way?

Welcome to a fine and friendly place. We hope you post often. Enjoy the show.
