U.S Generals in Normandy.

    were any u.s generals sacked or demoted in the normandy battle,like Bucknall in the british sector,cheers.

    MG Eugene Landrum was relieved of command of the US 90th ID. He initially was replaced by BG Theodore Roosevelt, Jr, but he died of a heart attack before he could assume command. Ulitimately, the division when to BG Raymond S. McClain and then to BG James A. Van Fleet.

    Normandy battle? As in up to the end of Cobra? Or past that?

    look up caffey.. i know i have been told he was not to be on utah beach but snuck in.. i think something happen at exercise tiger and he was not to be on utah.. i am not sure when all that happen but i know for sure about utah.. and pa just hated that guy.. if he sees that mans name to this day his boold will boil...

    I don't remember specifically. I guess a Corps commander or Bradley didn't like his leadership.

    hey sandy,do you mean MG H Gaffey?,he was C.O.S.for the 3RD ARMY,then was given command of a corps,and then got the 4TH armd div,before abrams got command of that div.died in a crash after.:(

    Nope it was major General Eugene Caffey of the 1st Engineer Special Bragade... according to Pa this guy was not right upstairs...
