Thanks for a great site. I am a WW II history nut with most of my interest focusing on the Army Air Corps. This is primarily due to researching family members, etc. My dad's cousin (RO on B24) was shot down over France and the entire crew was KIA. I was able to find out a lot more details through the internet. I also researched my mom's cousin who was a B26 pilot. He survived WW II, Korea, Vietnam and finished with the FAA. I also helped research an airman for a friend of mine and it helped to lead to his remains being brought home. I found this site because of that. The man's name was Alden Hershiser and he is listed in the obit section. I am also looking to find out info about my father-in-law's unit. He was with the 217th AAA Battery D. He started in North Africa then to Sicily and up through France, Belgium and into Germany. He also witnessed the horrors of Dachau. I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction as to a unit historian or reunions. He is 88 but in excellent health. I would love to get him to one.
Welcome-it sounds as if your family has a lot of history. I have no doubt that someone here can point you in the right direction if they haven't already.
Hello and welcome! I hope you will share the stories of your father-in-law and other family members with us! Please thank them for their service, as we are all appreciative. Cheers!
