The thread started recently on Wolfy's disappearance from the forum got me to thinking. In addition to the Wolfmeister, there are several more of the "Regular Rogues" who have not posted in quite some time also. For one, like him or not, DA (AKA Devil's Advocate) hasn't posted in just over a month. His posts were very informative and to the point, and admittingly I cringe when I first see his avatar show up after one of my posts. Kreig is another one who has dropped off the radar screen. And we all know about the voluntary exile of others like JCFalkenbergIII. I know that some went over to become regulars on our sister forum, WW2Talk, like Za Rodinu, for personal reasons. I hope all these guys are ok, and will soon be back here with us on the forum. If you know of any others who went MIA, please list them on this thread so we can all keep them in mind and hoist a beer or two in their honor (w/o getting too mushy of course).... Maybe in the future, we can have a new "safety net" created. A Rogue can enter contact information (if they so desire) so we can check in on them if they don't show up on the forums with their usual frequency. Maybe it could be called the "Dogtags" for lack of a better name. Any other worthwhile ideas? Bring'em on.
That's a really good idea. Since I first joined in January, there have been a number of regular posters, especially Za and JC whose posts I miss reading. I don't know why they stopped posting, but it would be nice to know they are just taking a break, or went to another forum, and not having some difficulty. I remember reading a post about a forum member on another forum who had died, but no one knew it for quite some time. I like the Dogtags title, too. Good post.
When you have an almost casual debate relation with your fellow war buffs; its quite displeasing to see some of the local favorite personalities go to the void of absence. I too miss DA's frustratingly wide knowledge of everything.
DA has made his own choice to withdraw from the forum. I have suspicions that this is not the first forum he has left precipitously, nor will it be his last. I have no idea what has happened to Krieg, he has been MIA since January. I wonder if it is health issues.
Jc decided not to post too. We all sometimes get irratated. Slip amongst others tries to soothe furrowed brows. But we are all adults and make our own choices. No conspiracy here.
I to have noticed rogues that are absent some I know are due to internet/computer problems, others have left due to reasons of thier own does seem a shame when some leave and we dont know why lets hope its nothing serious.
JC left on his own. BigFun posts when his schedule allows. Krieg just disappeared. I sent him a few notes but he never responded. I continue to exchange notes with Za and try to get him to return. He has personal reasons for having departed, not the least of which is his new restaurant which occupies much of his time.
And theres plenty that shouldnt post.. Im not listening.. La da da da di da da.. Im staying... La da di da da da... Take 4 of yers t carry me out..la da da...
I've seen Za on a couple of times. No post's, but at least he pops in for a look every once in a while.
I think, generally, Rogues get the word out if they are ill or otherwise indisposed to not be able to post on the Forums. I think it would be safe to say that those who have gone 'MIA' have chosen to take a leave of absence from the forums, for whatever reason. If they wanted everyone to know, they would have made some sort of post. I don't see much of a reason to go bother people about them leaving the Forum.
Some rogues are obviously honourable with intent. Thanks to those folk, its been a good few years cheers. Made lots of good friends I intend to stay with via net....Most of them AMERICAN, to thwart the views of some of the other mods and ex mods on here. Honour is not just a word to some of us, to some its a computer game, fine, those folk should stick with computer games. I'll stick to the facts of ww2, both in personal life and historical. Games have never been my area, be they political or on the end of a joystick. But each to their own. Cheers chaps. Uniform, Romeo, Quebec, Hotel....Out... Oh and urqh was short for Urquhart for all those that spent years guessing. Pip pip and all that. Cheerio.
