My name as you might have guessed from my user name is Dan Wetherell. I'm originally from Iowa and after college and a stint in the Army I am back living in my original hometown; Sutherland, Iowa. I'm thirty-three and have a bachelor's degree in political science and business. I have always always had an interest in history although I am strictly a historian of the armchair variety. The majority of my ancestory is from Germany which I suppose was the initial reason for my interest in World War II. I am particularly interested in the non-battle related elements of World War II such as espionage, politics, diplomacy and non-linear warfare. As far as other historical interests go I'm quite interested in the Crusades, the Civil War (And Civil Wars in general), the Cold War and the seedy side of American history. I believe that we can ignore the fact that history is not as pure as the driven snow. This doesn't mean however that nothing untoward ever happened. As far as anything else worth mentioning. Like I said earlier I've always been interested in World War II but during my time in the Army I was stationed in Iraq for some time. During my free time there I read a great many books related to that time period and I suppose that's when my real interest grew. If anyone else has any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.
