Hi Guys, This is the first forum/blog I've been part of. I'm in the middle of getting a k98 back to something like its original condition. One thing I've had conflicting advice on is whether the cleaning rod should be blued or bright. Rifle is a byf43. A gunsmith told me they were issued bright, but most of the pics on the net show them as blued. Which way should I go?. I've always had the Lee Enfield bug, got a no1, a no4 & a jungle carbine, & now got a k98!, all great rifles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome! You should consider re-posting your question in the militaria or information request sections of the forum. You will likely get more traffic there. Cheers!
Welcome to the forum. I know very little about the particulars of the 98K, BUT, period photographs can certainly serve as historical evidence. If the period photos show the cleaning rod blued, there is your answer. Enjoy your stay. Greg C.
